Ed--Glad you tested Negative for Covid, but some friends tested positive and had no real side effects. I have vertigo, but it has not really bothered me since the incident last year with the wheelchair lady. Another friend has it bad, but we think some of it is the pressure she is under because she is taking care of her mother. I watched some football yesterday and saw on the highlights a couple of games were delayed by weather.
Sneakers--Too bad there is no one else to bring what you need. Favor had a promotion last month if free delivery from HEB, but it had to be at least $25. Like the idea of mystery meal. Some places it is the same each day of the week (like Monday was chicken, Friday was fish).
Uncle--Drivers usually sit in the stands or their buses, but it was a really hot afternoon. A couple of weeks into the school year and there has been a bus accident here with minor injuries. A few drivers don't respect the buses. I think one was rear ended when stopped at a railroad crossing.
Lorando--Wal Mart here is still the same. We went yesterday so we could use the OTC card from Medicare. Wife also bought some cosmetics which are in a locked cabinet. Clerk took it to a register which was the slowest cashier in Harlingen. The two customers ahead of us with few items took ten minutes and by the time we got to the register we forgot about the cosmetics. Wife remembered when we got home so had to go back and it took another 45 minutes counting travel time. I stayed in the car, but the cashier took so long I had to move to a parking place. Astros open next year with the Mets. Who will be filling in for the pastor? Praying he gets well and return to pulpit.
The Wal Mart experience has me preferring self-checkouts. Another time we got behind a couple of customers where the cashier had to call for a manager. If it weren't for the Medicare OTC card we would probably not shop there. Worse is the family in SP who have to drive 30 miles to San Benito WM. They don't like the Harlingen because the parking lot us a pain to exit.
Went to hear a band in Weslaco. Hard rain along the way and saw two accidents. Had to exit the expressway. Traffic backed up. Ate at Mr. Gatti's there. Asked the manager when Harlingen was getting one (we had one before Covid) and was told the city was blocking them by not giving them the permits needed. Not the first time that happened.
Listen to good music and watched the ND = Texas A&M game. A&M lost but it was close.
See how church goes.

Pop is not a critical need. Last night’s mystery meal was enchiladas. They were very tasty. Just had breakfast which was quite predictable: toast, sausage, oatmeal, and orange juice. They brought me scrambled eggs which I didn’t eat.

Hi, Sneakers. I'm watching the Cardinal-Yankee game. It's turning into another crazy game like last night's. Lots of runs, hits, weird errors, stupid errors, strange bounces, etc. but strangely entertaining. I was up early and finished the end of month financials. I look forward to that. The year is moving right along. Hopefully you'll be home by the end of the week, so you won't have any more vending machine runs.
Hello, Uncle - You're right. Being head coach of the Steelers comes with more job security than most coaching jobs. It seems to work for Pittsburgh, but don't know if it's luck or good scouting. Maybe the job attracts better candidates because they know they'll be able to plan long term. Enjoy your last day of Summer Vacation tomorrow.
Hi, soutxed. No one will be filling in for our priest. We'll just have Morning Prayer instead of Communion. Next Sunday I'll lead it, and the guy, who led this morning will read the sermon from the "Suggested Sermon Site". No word on how things are going. Wow, you'll have to pack a picnic lunch the next time you need to go to Walmart. The self checkouts were all replaced during the upgrade, so the new machines are probably faster and more reliable. I remember the people who monitor the self checkouts were constantly running from one person to another to reset the machines before the update. What kind of eatery is Mr. Gatti's? Must be a southern chain.

Tech is definitely my thing, I was a BSEE software engineer for 32.468 years I worked 32 years and 4 months at the aerospace company before they closed up and moved south. I then worked for an auto automation supplier that started an aerospace group to try to and diversify their business. They failed and I got broomed out with a bunch of other folks after 7 years and, surprisingly, I got severence on the way out. Got hired by a company that was like a refugee camp of the previous company but it didn't last and I got canned after 4 months. Last stop was a company that made air and water filtration systems and that lasted until the start of the pandemic when I got canned after 1 year 7 months. At that point I decided to retire although I am working part time at the plasma center 2 days a week. So I had a career just shy of 42 years. I put my 2 weeks notice in at the plasma center 2 weeks ago but my boss asked me to stay an additional 2 weeks so I can get my annual bonus. It's $135 bucks so it is a drop in the bucket but it is my bucket. 2 more weeks and I will be as retired as Sneakers.

_@edindetroit , glad you had a negative covid test. Hope your vertigo clears up soon. Ed--Glad you tested Negative for Covid, but some friends tested positive and had no real side effects. Another friend has it bad, but we think some of it is the pressure she is under because she is taking care of her mother. I watched some football yesterday and saw on the highlights a couple of games were delayed by weather. When I laid down in bed last night I didn't spin at all. When I woke up this morning and rolled onto my back I spun a little bit. At breakfast and lunch I got a bit nauseas while looking down at my plate. Wife and I took the dog for a walk in the park and I struggled a bit at first but got better at the end. Ate dinner and didn't have any issues at all. Whatever it is it seems to be working its way out. My wife suggested that I stay home from church this morning and just rest so I did.

I will probably spend some time when I get home catching up on the ThinkPad. It hasn’t been on since the 28th of July and every Monday I get a message from Carbonite Safe that I haven’t had the ThinkPad on enough to run a backup. Mr. Gatti’s is a pizza buffet that may have other things, it’s been a long time since I went to one. Their closest location to you is in Ohio.

Think I am going home in a day or two.
The staff have stopped giving me IV antibiotics for the past two days and my PICC is scheduled for removal Monday.
i know of no other reason for me to be here except I thought going to the infusion center every day would be an enormous hassle. Also being in the nursing home is cheaper than living at home.
The nursing home probably won’t be able to get my doctor to concur until Tuesday. Just in time for a 70% chance of rain and there is no awning Fom the front door to the Tundra.

soutxed, a hot afternoon would explain why the drivers did what they did. Were the many fans in the stands that day? Is there much shade for the fans? Sorry to hear about the school bus accidents. Hopefully there won't be any more. I keep thinking about how the summer is ending for me. Back when you were a teacher, you had sometime back at school before the students returned. Was it more than a week or just a few days? lorando (NW PA), stability is a good thing for a team like the Steelers. Free agents probably like that. Got some labour day football to watch Monday. It will be my distraction from realizing summer is over. The Yankees are back to a half game lead over the Orioles. Who is going to win the division? Take care everyone.

Uncle--Fans sat in the stands facing the sun. By the end of the games, it was dark and a little cooler. We usually had a week of meetings/Inservice and a workday before school started. Most of the meetings/training were not that interesting. One year I had jury duty Monday-Thursday and came back for the workday. Asked the teacher next to me if there was anything I need to know, and he said no there wasn't. Found out the 3rd day of school the way to took attendance had changed when the attendance secretary called me in. Said she was going to have the attendance principal write me up, but I reminded her I had jury duty and cannot be punished for missing school. Otherwise, I can't remember any real feelings one way or another.
Ed--Vertigo has a way of leaving for a while. A friend is still dealing with it but the fact she is taking care of her ill mother has increased the pressure and changed her way of life. Interesting work history. Hey, $135 will buy a few meals out or a nice Christmas present for the wife.
Sneakers--Bet you will be glad to get out of the nursing home, but I understand food costs will go up, but you will be eating what you like.
Lorando--The Yankee-Cardinal Score looked like a football score when I saw it scroll across the screen. Have to get the sports news online or ESPN as local stations concentrate on HS football and maybe a couple of college games. Mr. Gatti's is an all you can eat buffet concentration mainly on pizza, but spaghetti, pasta and a decent salad bar. We went often before Covid, but they were a chain that didn't survive Covid. Wal Mart cashiers here are not as good as HEB. We hardly go except for OTC since Medicare pays for those up to $110 a quarter. We can also use it at Walgreen and CVS, but they are more expensive. When SIL lived with us, her MA only paid for OTC at CVS and only CVS brand. Works in Raymondville as they are the only chain drug store there and service is decent, but the Harlingen store there are long waits. I bet your services are shorter without communion and sermons.
Our service went well but we had issues with our internet at first, but by the time of the children service we got them worked out and the streaming went well.
Went to Target and HEB for curbside pickup. Both are too crowded on Sunday. I would use curbside at Wal Mart but can't use the UTC card with delivery or curbside.
News this morning is the Harlingen School Board is meeting tomorrow to review the Supt contract. He was hired ayear ago and has a contract through the end of the year. See what happens.

Good Morning, All.
Sneakers, sounds like you're just biding time now. I understand how you could have mixed feelings about leaving the rehab facility; we get comfortable with a set routine. It's been a long time since you've been home! I think I'd miss those good breakfasts too. Speaking of routines & breakfasts, I've had the same breakfast for years: A mix of 2 cereals (Raisin Nut Bran & Fiber One), ½ cup of blueberries, and Tim Horton's coffee. Could be healthier I'm sure, but it could be worse too.
Hello, soutxed. I see Dallas opens at Cleveland on Sunday, so I'll get to see it. Sounds like Mike McCarthy is hanging on by a thread, so the first game is even more important to the Cowboys. But I feel the same way about the Cowboys as you do about the Yankees. Just a matter of geography & tradition. It's funny, I never had jury duty. Was on the list several times, but when I called the number I was given on the night before, I was always told there were no cases or it was canceled. I never will have it now, since over 75 is exempt. Can't say I'm disappointed, but it might have been an interesting experience.
Good Morning, Uncle. No idea who will win the AL East. The weekend series (NY/StL) was great fun to watch, even though I would have preferred a different outcome. Enjoy the CFL Provincial rivalry today. Hope the Stampeders can pull off an upset. At the elementary level, there was a lot more time needed to prepare, so everyone came in on their own during the summer to unpack supplies and get things set up. I usually spent about a week before school started. I found that younger kids needed routines and expectations from the first time they lined up on the playground before coming inside. It pays off for the rest of the year. But there were perks of being at the lower grades too. Just a matter of preference. Hope you have a great first day tomorrow.

The PICC is out! I’m lying partly on my right side so I can look at the bandage over the PICC hole to see if starts leaking blood. If it is, I’m supposed to hit the nurse call button.
I think the nursing home will get me out of here soon. Haven’t asked yet. One more night of weird sleep. Not used to sleeping in a brightly lit room.:
Just came back from the vending machines a bit ago. Had some sugar wafers and a bottle of Lipton Peach Tea.
Watching the Astros-Reds game. Tied 2-all in the fourth inning.
DirecTV and Disney are having a contract dispute. So no ABC 13 on the TV here.
Isaiah is starting work at Macy’s tomorrow morning at 11:00 AM. AJ told me that so I tell the nursing home when I don’t have a ride home.

I won’t miss the patients that suffer from dementia and forget about the nurse call button, but they know there’s a nurse and they start bellowing for the nurse. I have never been in a facility where that didn’t occur. Not even Ignite. I pretty much like the mystery meals here and we’ve never had a repeat except for breakfast. Nurse just came in and asked if I had wound care today. I commented that I didn’t remember. She can take off the outer layer of bandages (which she can easily rewrap) and look at the day I last had wound care.

Sneakers: Hope you get out of rehab tomorrow (Tuesday). AJ Should be able to pick you up even if Isaiah has to be at work at 11:00AM. If AJ is working himself, he will have to arrange to pick you up. You are a priority after what you have been through. Good luck with everything tomorrow.
Uncle: Good luck at your job. First day back after being out all Summer must be tough. Hope you get a good night's sleep and have a great day tomorrow.
Soutxed: I did all my food shopping on Saturday. I was not going on Sunday or today (Monday). The stores are so busy. It is bad enough working in retail this week with students (the younger ones still living at home) while they are buying snacks, notebooks, pens, etc. The parents are so rude. I plan to look for a part-time bank teller position. Now is the time to look. I have appointments on my calendar (doctors) but I suppose I can change them if needed.
lorando: Do you have a lot of bees in your neck of the woods? There are so many bees here. I threw my trash bag in the rubbish area on Saturday and I had them flying all over me. You would not mind, but others go in this fenced in area, throw their bag(s) in the trash bucket and go with no bees. The trash bin did not have bees in it where I threw my trash bag. They are just in the local area with all the trash. First time I had a problem with bees, in the trash area, is where I am currently residing.
Ed: Glad you tested negative for Covid. Having vertigo is no fun though. I get that every so often. I have to be careful how I bend over. Sometimes getting older is just not fun.
Have a good week Everyone!

Last home in late July. Every Monday for the past two or three weeks, I get a reminder from Carbonite Safe cloud backup that the ThinkPad hasn’t been backed up recently. AJ has heard that I can get a $750 stipend from FEMA to reimburse us for food spoiled in the Hurricane Beryl power outage. I tried to apply but they asked for a piece of data that is on the ThinkPad. Tried two or three times to get a copy of the file from the Carbonite Safe backup. I can navigate to the file in the backup but when ostensibly retrieved to the iPad, I look for it and never find it. My IV antibiotics finished up Friday and the nurse took out the PICC before a 5:30 PM supper. Only rarely have breakfast at home, if I do it’s a bowl of cereal with milk. Usually eat some of Isaiah’s cereal. I think if I ate breakfast consistently, I would get some cereal that isn’t sweet enough for Isaiah. Looked at Informed Delivery. We will be getting eleven mailpieces that they were able to scan. Mail for everyone but John. Have not been able to see tomorrow’s Boeing pension payment. I’ve still have $848 of my slightly more than $2019 Social Security benefit from August.

I think I am going to ask tomorrow if I can go home because the reason for me being here, getting IV antibiotics, is now over. Right now, I am watching NBC and “American Ninja Warrior.” I’ve seen tomorrow’s Informed Delivery. Eleven mailpieces scanned. Something for everyone but John. Looked to see if my Boeing pension payment has arrived. It just did a few minutes ago. It usually comes late in the evening the day before the first business day of the month. Still have $848 of the $2019 and change Social Security Retirement payment not yet used to pay bills, AJ can flex his work hours to take care of things. That is if he finds an odd job to do.
