Sneakers--I wondered if all that pop would get to you someday.
Attending the reunion. Wish I had a dashboard cam. On the way a pickup pulling a trailer loaded with tires [assed me then all of a sudden one of the tires fell out of the trailer onto the freeway. It bounded and came down in front of a red car that was 3 or 4 car lengths ahead of us barely missing that car, bounded 20 feet in the air and came down in the next lane narrowly missing another car. Came down again in the parking lane right in front of a state trooper who turned on his lights. The landed on the frontage road in near where a San Benito PD had someone pulled over. wonder how all that ended.
Tour of the old high school and then a dinner and dance tonight. Been good to meet some of our friends and hope to see more tonight.

Good Morning, soutxed. Glad you managed to avoid that tire. Did it feel like the tire was bouncing in slow motion? It must have been satisfying to see the trooper there to witness it! Don't know what the penalty is for having an unsecured load, but I hope the pickup driver gets his comeupance. Enjoy your time with old friends in Brownsville.
Hi, Sneakers. Enjoy your day. Are the temps in Houston showing any signs of moderating as we begin Autumn tomorrow?
Hi, Patty. Hotpoint is jointly owned by Whirlpool and Haier, a European company that bought out General Electric appliances. You never know who owns what with all the mergers and buyouts, so maybe that's already changed. Hope your weekend is just as busy as you want it to be.
Hi, Uncle. I'll be watching the P'burgh-Seattle game tomorrow. It seems like yesterday that Gino Smith was a young rookie with lots to prove. Speaking of Seattle, does the Mariner's Network broadcast their games into Canada? Their tv play-by-play announcer, Dave Simms, is one of the 2 finalists to become the Yankee radio announcer next year. I remember him from a sports talk show he had in New York before he went into play-by-play. Never heard him call a game though.

It is down to 92 as the high peak today but the heat index is over 100 because Houston is usually quite humid. Haier is a Chinese company, not European. They currently are the largest appliance manufacturer in the world.

Soutxed: So GOOD that the tire did not come in contact with your car. What a scary situation to be in. It could have caused a major accident. Have a good time at the reunion. Have a safe ride home too!
lorando: It is pouring very hard this morning. I could sleep all day if it rained all day. I got up once and went back to sleep. It was after 12:00 noon by the time I finally stayed up. It has been a dark dreary day here, but we have not had rain in several days here.
Sneakers: Glad you got your stomach issue under control and that you know what is causing you to "feel bad". Hopefully next week you will be out of the rehab place. It has been a long time since you got admitted there. I have lost track of how many days you have been there.
Have a nice Sunday Everyone!!!

Last night the dog woke me up every 2 hours because she has been having loose stools. Went to bed at 10:30pm up at 12:30am, 2:30am and and 4:40am. The 12:30am was hardest on me and I didn't sleep much between then and 2:30am. She was a little antsy around 7am but it was light enough that I didn't worry about Mary taking her out. I slept until 8:30am. Mary had just weaned her off eggs and rice. Maybe it was too soon.

It has been a long time since you got admitted there. I have lost track of how many days you have been there. I have been here since August 5th. Still don't know when I'm getting out but if I was given my druthers I figure I just as well stay to Wednesday the 25th of September because we are short of money. Medicare will pay for up to 100 days in a rehab facility. Slept nine hours last night. Night nurse came in the room multiple times to see if I was alright and I was sleeping soundly. AJ brought me the ThinkPad. He brought me the wrong AC adaptor the first time, he came back with the right one when he was going to Macy's to pick up Isaiah from work.

Hi, Sneakers. Enjoy your day. Are the temps in Houston showing any signs of moderating as we begin Autumn tomorrow? It's down to 88 at four o'clock in the afternoon. Heat index is 96. Listening to SiriusXM Classic Vinyl streaming on the ThinkPad. Any given day of the year in Houston you may need air conditioning.

Most of my life I didn't have air conditioning getting it in 2016 after my wife's oldest said it was going to be a record setting summer in Michigan. I do have a finished basement that I would hang out in on the hot days. With a fan going it would get chilly.

patty7841, you seem to have busy days, so it's understandable you might get dehydrated. Hopefully next time things go better. Grade 1 students are so new to the "going to school" thing. He didn't ride Thursday morning. His mother might have been a little behind on getting going. lorando (NW PA), you don't have to call in sick for work, but you do have responsibilities with your church, correct? I don't like calling in sick either. Only really did the past number of years when I had COVID-19. The Mets are doing much better than last year. Sorry, but I'd say the Phillies will go farther than the Mets. By the way, isn't a Philly a girl horse? The Steelers are 3 and 0. Without Russell Wilson too. Maybe they don't need him. The occasional Mariners game is shown up here. If I remember correctly, Dave Simms does a good job. Take care everyone.

soutxed, I've got about 9 new students, which seems like a lot for my route. So far, no bad eggs. The students that are new to riding a school bus will hopefully get better at sitting down while the bus is moving. I'm always have to talk about that. I'm glad they did a TV special about the accident, 35 years later. That kind of incident can't be forgotten. Our newest buses have two more emergency escape windows for a total of six. As well as two roof hatches, most only have one. On all of our buses, the windshield can be kicked out, as well as the back windows. That is in a worst case scenario of course. Sorry to see the Texas NFL teams not fair so well. There's always next week. Take care.

The staff is getting rid of things that would hold me here. Last night after supper, they pulled the Foley and gave me a shower. Not sure how long I'd been without a shower but IIRC it was before I went to Methodist.

Good Morning, Sneakers. Well that sounds like promising news to start the week. One change of season event I hadn't thought much about was the later sunrise. Yesterday I arrived at church and it was still dark, and as I was walking down a long hallway I met a bat coming in the opposite direction. He passed by and made two more flights up and down the hallway before going into a vestibule type room by the side door. I managed to prop the outside door open with a chair and told hime he had to go. Luckily he was compliant after resting for awhile. Our committee chairman was bitten a couple years ago, and had to get the rabies shots. They're fascinating little creatures, but I'll be happy when they become inactive for the winter.
Hi, Uncle. Having trouble with my space bar this morning, so I have to watch the screen more closely. Probably a crumb or something, but I'll worry about that later. The 1962 Mets now have company as the worst team ever. The White Sox lost game # 120 to tie, will and probably break the record this week. They must be happy to see the season ending. But they'll be back! I watched the Steeler's win vs the Chargers. Every week they let Justin Fields do a bit more, and so far he's responded - only one turnover this year so far. The defense is a lot more exciting to watch, but that's the "old school" team they've designed. We'll see how other teams adjust, after seeing the game films.
Hello, Patty. Your rainy Saturday was probably just what you needed. I sometimes stream rain sounds at night to help me get to sleep. When I was a kid, my bedroom was over the large slate roof above the front porch, so the rain was always on "high volume". And if it wasn't raining on summer nights, it was the sound of oil wells pumping in the distance. Very relaxing!
Ed - Hope your dog is feeling better, and you're catching up on lost sleep.
Hi, soutxed. Hope you had a safe trip home from Brownsville. Did anyone come from long distances to attend the reunion?

Lorando--A bat in church. I think there is some biblical message there. Yes, it is still dark at 7AM here. I think before the time change sunrise will be near 8AM. Up north it can be later and dark at 4 PM. Pittsburg doing well with a backup QB. Both Texas teams sucked yesterday. Cowboys cannot stop the running game and too many penalties. Texans too many penalties. Lack of discipline by both teams. As I mentioned after watching the series on the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders, they are more disciplined than the football players. She needs to be the first assistant football coach. The pickup was long gone so unless the trooper has a video and got a license number, he/she will not suffer any consequences other than being short a tire. One lady came from Montana, so I think she got the long distance award. Yesterday she was going to Austin to see family then fly back to Montana.
Patty--True, that appliance companies have merged. Sleeping in on rainy days sounds good. We are expecting more this week. Got home with no incidents. Had to make a stop at T-Mobile as wife was having problems with cell phone. Tech fixes it in 30 seconds.
Ed--Sorry your dog kept you awake. Our cat was so happy to see us he woke us one time during the night just to make sure we were still here.
Uncle--All those new safety features would have made a difference 35 years ago. I didn't call in sick much until my final year only to use up the sick leave. Some were legit as I needed to take mother to the doctor.
Sneakers--Glad you got your power cord. Hope you are out this week, but I understand staying until Wednesday. Was tough this month short one payment. The replacement starts Thursday and then I get my Teacher retirement Friday. Would rather they be spread out but we have little say on that.
Made it home after the breakfast get together. Only about half the attendees came to the breakfast as some needed to get home and a couple of those who are still here needed to go to church.
Was tired and emotionally drained as I am sure for most, this was the last time I well see them. They showed a video on how many of our classmates passed in the past five years. Many were those I was close to in High School.
Got to get the battery fixed on pickup. Also need to spray the lawn if it doesn't rain as we have some dead spots.

Haven't seen doctor today. Had occupational and physical therapy this afternoon. Left foot was moderately uncomfortable when up walking around.
So your church has bats in the belfry? Not what I'd want to run into. I get needled enough the way it is. Both arms have bruises on them.
