Soutxed: Glad that your trip to the reunion was a good one. I can imagine it being emotionally draining. I have never been to my high school reunions as my class was so big (well over 650 students). I only went to the public high school for 3 years (10th, 11th and 12th Grades). I went to a private school for Grades 1 - 8, and then public school at the middle school for the 9th grade. Many students, who went to the private school (grades 1 -8), went to a private high school too. Parents thought that a private education was better than public, even during those days (many years ago). Private school is definitely better now.
lorando: I would have died had I seen a bat anywhere but outside. That is awful. Glad you stayed far enough away so you did not get bit. You were brave!!!!!
Ed: Hope you dog is feeling better. I feel so bad for pets who get sick like that.
Sneakers: Worry about finances when you get home. You have some funds coming in and you stated it is cheaper with you in the nursing home. I do hope that you get out of the rehab soon. It has been awhile. You stated that your left foot is sore. I hope that it is not infected. That would really be a nightmare. Take care.
Have a good week Everyone!!

Sneakers--Agree with Patty, worry about finances when you get home. Under the revised plan from the financial planner, we get one deposit around the 10th, then nothing until last Wednesday, the 26th, and the last weekday of the month. So three will come close together. How is your foot?
Patty--I am with you about bats. Under our state government, the number of public schools will decrease, and private schools will increase with the voucher system that will be passed next legislative session. This will most likely be the case in the Red states.
Couldn't get the truck started yesterday. Seems it is not the battery, but the alternator. Was calling AAA to get it towed until another family situaiton we had to deal with. It was midafternoon when we finished it and I want to take truck in morning hoping they can finish it by the end of the day.
Wife has doctor's appointment this morning then we have to take SIL home from a follow up from her chemo. Maybe tomorrow the truck gets to the shop.

I will be doing finances in the rehab, I've got the ThinkPad with me. Have $2019.50 coming in tomorrow. When I'm in the nursing home, I'm not buying food or using electricity or water in the house. That added up last November and December to be enough to pay my school district taxes.

I've got the ThinkPad with me, AJ brought it after my iPad got a problem with the power receptacle. So I can worry about finances right here.
My income comes in the first workday of the month (Boeing pension) and the 4th Wednesday of the month (Social Security Retirement).
My left foot is sore when I put weight on it.

Last night, I had trouble getting to sleep. Kept on dripping sweat until about 1:30 AM. Then went to sleep for a while. Nodding in and out this morning.
Finally get some income tomorrow.
Need to catch up on my bookkeeping. Haven't done any until August 5th except for my City of Friendswood Utilities statement.

Good Tuesday Morning, Patty. Looks like an all-day rain today with showers in the AM and t-storms in the PM. We need the rain, running about 4 inches below normal for the year. The ceiling light in my office burned out last night. I thought I had replaced all the lights with brighter/colder ones not too long ago. But not so! It's great to have so much more light with the replacement, especially for reading and paperwork.
Hi, Sneakers. 10-4 on the bruised arms from all the needlework. I'm at the stage where I see bruises and have no idea how I got them. Oh, well, that means the blood is still circulating, so no complaints. Glad you can worry about things right where you are with your Think Pad, but use it to de-stress too. Glad to hear you have some revenue incoming tomorrow. Sounds like you'll be busy today catching up.
Mornin', soutxed. I needed to walk at arms length past the bat to get to the outside door. But that's the door most people use, so the bat had to go. I read that in China, bats are considered good luck! I'll stick to 4-leaf clovers. Everyone should own an old truck. I had a walking buddy in Panama City Beach, who drove a really old Dodge pickup that looked like it went through a war, but people still asked if he would sell it. Hope your alternator replacement goes well. As Rosanne Rosanadana used to say, "If it isn't one thing, it's another!"

At least the bruises don't hurt to any perceptible extent. They just look bad.
The revenue will turn up tonight about ten o'clock in the evening if it's like usual.

lorando (NW PA), I hope your spacebar feels better. The 1962 Mets only played 160 games that year, but that won't matter by Sunday. The ChiSox will make up for that I'm sure. Will they be "better" next year? I'm afraid we will find out, but then Oakland did improve over last season. The Steelers have an interesting schedule coming up. At the end of October, they will play both New York teams on consecutive weeks, both in Pittsburgh. The Seahawks play Buffalo at the end of October. I doubt they will be undefeated after that game, if not before. soutxed, they have learned the hard way how to improve school bus safety over the years. Glad they are better now at least. Sorry you have to use up your sick days at the end. But things to happen when people get older. Take care everyone.

Slept pretty good last night. Downloaded a number of E-statements last night but I'm not done picking them up. Revenue showed up just fine, I've already bought $200 in stock. Order will go through when the market opens, about 75 minutes from now.

Good Morning, Sneakers. I'm glad you're getting caught up with your computer work. I'm sure you've been keeping precise records for a long time, and it's probably uncomfortable when you fall behind. I get that! It's only 9AM, and already I've made a grocery run in the pouring rain, and managed to slice my thumb pretty good unhooking a bungee cord. Don't ask! Can't wait to see what's next.
Morning, Uncle. No idea how they make the NFL schedule, other than the 2 mandatory games with division rivals. The Steelers didn't play either NY team last year. In '22 they played the Jets, and in '21 they played neither. Hats off to the computer programmers for figuring it all out. No champagne for the Yankees last night, due to some slipshod base running. Maybe tonight! Sunday it was sad to see the A's play their last game in Oakland. The Yankee announcers were talking about some memorable games and players over the years: Rollie Fingers, Rickey Henderson, Jason Giambi, Catfish Hunter, Mark McGuire, Dennis Eckersley, Reggie Jackson, Jose Conseco, and the list goes on. The fans in Oakland deserve better for all their support.
Hey, soutxed. Did I read the House plans to bring the WEP/Social Security issue to a vote sometime after the election, or is that just politicians looking for votes? Enjoy your day.

Lorando--Yes good lighting is helpful at our age. Depending on the vaccine, my arm can hurt for a day or two, others no pain. We are over our average for rain but so little fell in the reservoir, so a water shortage is still a problem. Governor came to the valley yesterday to talk about the water shortage but either rain over the reservoir, Mexico giving their share which most likely won't happen until after the Presidential election, or we can get desalination plants to get water from the Gulf of Mexico. Astros clenched a playoff spot last night.
Uncle--Cowboys have the NY Giants this Thursday. If they lose then I can see some coaching changes. At least the Astros make it to the playoffs. I was not really sick those days, just trying to get what a deserve. Some of those days was to take mother to the doctor. A couple of those days to be home when the kids walked by our house after the school bus dropped them off. Caught one girl stealing our mail. I knew some was missing. Went to postmaster to file charges but was told there is nothing they can do as Federal Courts do not try juveniles.
Sneakers--Got our SS deposit so can pay some bills. Glad you have a think pad to do that. I remember when caretaker sister was in the nursing home a few years ago and would write checks to pay bills from her bed. Then give us the bills to mail.
Didn't get the truck to repair shop. We had to be on standby as sister-in-law had a doctor's appointment. Nephew brought her from SP to the doctor on his way to work. Thought we would take her home about noon but waited then about 2 Pm she called to say she will be getting Chemo. She and youngest sister wanted lunch. So we took them lunch but found out that the husband of youngest sister ill come to Harlingen and take them home.
Went to 60th BD party last night. Let the BD person know she was born the year I graduated from high school. Had a good time.

Seems that I'm slowly but surely catching up. You managed to slice your thumb? Ouch!

Got my Social Security Retirement deposit this morning. I can pay all my bills online.

One change of season event I hadn't thought much about was the later sunrise. Yesterday I arrived at church and it was still dark, and as I was walking down a long hallway I met a bat coming in the opposite direction. He passed by and made two more flights up and down the hallway before going into a vestibule type room by the side door. I managed to prop the outside door open with a chair and told hime he had to go. Luckily he was compliant after resting for awhile. Our committee chairman was bitten a couple years ago, and had to get the rabies shots. They're fascinating little creatures, but I'll be happy when they become inactive for the winter.
We were on Mackinac Island a few years ago and a couple of seagulls were after a Bat. I saw where it landed and stood in front of it to block one of the seagulls. A lady was walking by and said "give it up the other one got it". It snuck around me while I was facing down the other one. I really hate seagulls.

Put $500 towards the HEB Signature VISA this afternoon. Got about $1300 left that I can pay bills with. Get about $2300 the first of October from the Boeing pension.
