Ed: I hate to see how cruel nature can be!!! It would not leave me with a good feeling either.
Will write on Friday or the weekend. Having mouth surgery tomorrow (Thursday).

Got some bad news last night at bowling. My bowling game went well, but the two teammates that haven't played yet were replaced and off the team. The new players were very nice people, but our team wasn't the same. Barbara, the teammate from last season, who has played this season didn't want to play anymore. I felt bad about playing, but we both stayed. Tonight, I got a call from Barbara and she talked to the bowling alley owner. Thanks to her, our team is back together. The other two that haven't played is because to one of them got a knee operation last month. So the other was taking care of him and couldn't play either. Next week, the one that can play will come by and play so she will at least have an average for the season. The other won't be able to play until January. He will be replace with a player called Vacancy. That player gets 150 points every game. lorando (NW PA), the schedule in the NFL kind of doesn't matter since they only play once a week. Other sports go on road trips and the schedule does mater, but not football. Yes, at least they do play their divisional rivals twice a year which is constant. I guess the city of Oakland just didn't cooperate with the A's. That's how the Dodgers ended up in LA, but the A's have been in two other cities already. I don't see anything guaranteed about a place to play in Las Vegas yet either. They will be in a minor league park next year, if what I've heard is correct. soutxed, I think the Cowboys can get a win this week. The Giants aren't much to worry about I'd say. Let's hope I right. The Astros are finishing the season better than they started. They can't be counted out very often. Sorry to hear you got some mail taken. About 1/3 of Canadians get their mail delivered to a super mailbox or community mailbox. They are a little harder to steal from than a mailbox next to someone's front door. These are mostly in communities developed starting in the 1980s. Take care everyone.

Paid bills last night until I got to the point where I didn't have any more money to pay with. But nothing's due now until next month, where I'll get my Boeing pension payment.

The NFL schedule is something like this, division teams home and away, one division every team and the other two the team that ended the previous season in the same place (i.e. 1st v 1st, 2nd v 2nd etc.) Then one team in other conference again based on standing from previous season and every team in another conference division. Not sure what happens when they add another game.
Had truck towed to repair shop, by they haven't even had a chance to work on it. They are getting too popular for me, but they do good work and honest.
Hope Sneakers continues to get good treatment and Uncle's bowling team does well now. Lorando, maybe Yankees gets it together tonight or waiting for the weekend. Saw Braves/Mets games postponed until Monday due to the Hurricane. Then next day the playoffs start.
Uncle, there are some neighborhoods with central mailboxes, but the older ones like ours. Fortunately, the family moved away about the time I retired.
Got some yard work today as it is a little cooler.

Good Morning, Sneakers. The last hurricane made a right turn before its' remnants got here. Helene is scheduled to make a left turn as it dissipates, so we'll probably just see a few showers on Sunday and Monday. Glad you're caught up with your paperwork. The thumb is fine. It wasn't a deep cut. The hook of the bungee tore a flap out of the fleshy part of the thumb. So a couple band-aids and a little Neosporin seem to be doing the job.
Howdy, Uncle. I'm happy to hear your team was reunited (kind of) in the end. It sounds like Mr. Vacancy's 150 points per week is a fair compromise, and it's in the owner's interest to keep the bowlers happy. I forgot the A's were originally a Philadelphia team. You're right! Government & Sports have had some shaky relationships. When the A's moved to Oakland from Kansas City, Senator Symington from Missouri threatened to introduce legislation to drop the anti-trust exemption if Kansas City didn't get a replacement immediately in the expansion. So Baseball forced the two new AL teams (K.C. Royals and Seattle Pilots) to open up two years earlier than originally planned. Some say that led to the Sonics going belly-up, because they needed those two extra years to get set up properly. Hope your bus runs are settling into a comfortable routine.
Hi, Patty. Ouch! Hope your surgery doesn't cause too much discomfort. But it's probably a relief to get it behind you, so you can move on. Are you taking some time off from your work?
Mornin', soutxed. Yikes! Scheduling gets complicated, but I see there's an attempt to maintain parity. It seems to work, with so many teams being competitive. If you have a mechanic, who is competent and honest, it's well worth waiting. Word gets out when you have a good reputation! Atlanta wouldn't be the ideal setting for a baseball game this weekend. At least we'll see how well the stadium's drainage system works! Enjoy the day.

Don't know when I'll get out of here but it looks like the time I'll be out of here my left foot wound will be pretty much healed. Haven't had doctor come by in a few days. Get to go see Dr. Clause, my podiatrist, Tuesday.

Good to hear that you aren't going to have to worry about street flooding there.
I'm not caught up with all the paperwork yet, only the things where I have paid the bills. Still have more to do.
Good to hear that you didn't have a major wound.
AJ called me up a little bit ago. He was wanting to go out and buy some cleaning supplies. I told him that I had about $400 on the HEB Signature VISA.

lorando: The surgery was much simpler than I thought. It was an extraction of a root where the crown and post came off months ago. The oral surgeon did not think I needed a bone graft ($900) at this time. I am supposed to have a follow-up in exactly 3 months from today (12-26-2024) which is so stupid as the insurance is not going to pay for another consult. The appointment is just for an x-ray to see if the bone healed right. Then when I saw the x-ray from last June, of the tooth that I had extracted today, I noticed a dark area near the root area of the tooth next door to the tooth that was extracted. The surgeon stated it looks like an infection. She stated that perhaps it is just a cavity in the tooth or it might need a root canal. The general dentist I go to has to adjust the flipper (like a partial) in about 2 weeks from now. He will address that tooth with the possible infection when I go for the adjustment. Then I get told that nothing can be done if there is an infection until sometime in November. The doc is booked. It is really strange as I thought the tooth that came out today was swollen. Nope!!! That is the one with the infection. Goodness. I should get all my teeth extracted and get a set of dentures. I am serious. Sick of docs (medical and dental). The money I have paid out and now owe is ridiculous.
Uncle: Sorry for the bad luck with your bowling team. Things happen but it is awful when teams fall apart. I hope things get better for you. I am glad that your cat was so happy to see you. They do get worried when you are away for even a short time. My parrot has gone crazy at times when I have been gone all day. He feels like I have deserted him. When I have to leave the next day, he starts crying (that is what it sounds like). I feel bad but I have to go out.
Soutxed: Hope the truck does not require an expensive fix. I go to a good place too but they are expensive. I am tired of paying high car repair bills for a car that is almost 13 years old. But it is less expensive than a new car. Good luck with it.
Sneakers: Good luck with your foot. You will know better after you see Dr. Clause.
Have a good weekend Everyone!!!

Patty--Got a call last night from the mechanic (surprised that were working late when there was a Cowboy's game). Problem is the battery which should be under some kind of warranty. But since the truck won't start, I will have to go to the shop ge tthe battery, take it to the store, then take a new battery back to shop. Glad your surgery went well. Our cat misses up then ignores us for a few hours.
Lorando--Saw the Yankees clinched. Yankees get Detroit the 1st round. Watching TWC. Looks like storm did so serious damage in Florida. Glad it will miss you. This mechanic seems honest. Was concerned as the previous manager left to work at the sales store. Less expensive than the dealership. Seems the NFL schedule maker wanted to punish the Cowboys. First time they had a Thursday night game (except Thanksgiving) after a Sunday game.
Sneakers--Glad the foot is getting better day by day. Guess they are waiting for the foot to heal. Anyway, looks like you are getting good care. A friend had her mother in the place where BIL was last year andx they forgot to do some procedure and caused mother to get worse. The family made the decision to move her to another in Harlingen. One brother who lives in Humble wants her moved to Houston, but the rest want to keep her in the valley. Does seem medical care is better where you are.
Got a late notice from the city for water bill. Had to pay a day late due to financial issues. Still pay with a check as when I ttried to set up online there were problems since my bank is a credit union. Now see the online payers are not able to log on and getting late notices. A lot of upset people and a portion of the city council up for election.
The company that takes care of our insects (termites, mice, etc.) found something opening in the house that causes those critters to come in. Will be out today to fix those. Back to working football tonight. looking forward to it.

Good Morning, Sneakers. Your foot is almost healed! That's the news you've been waiting for. Hopefully Dr. Clause will make it official at your upcoming appointment. Watching the news this morning, it's incredible how many millions of people are being impacted by Hurricane Helene, all the way up into midwest. Glad none of the posters on this site are in the storm's crosshairs.
Hi, Patty. Things went well for you yesterday! Great! Agreed, scheduling dental and medical appointments is frustrating. The garbage truck rumbled through, emptying dumpsters at before 4AM this morning. Usually it's at 8 or 9. It was nice to roll over and go back to sleep again for awhile.
Morning, soutxed. Yankees celebrated last night. The announcers were chatting about the Dodgers during the game. I didn't know it, but there are only 5 remaining Brooklyn Dodgers left. I think 4 are in their 90s and Sandy Koufax, who's 88. Hope your day is a good one.
Hi, Uncle. T.G.I.F. - Enjoy the quietness of the weekend.

I haven't had my doctor here show all week. Medical care here is pretty good. Although I've pretty much settled on Houston Methodist as to where to go.

Now, I have to get out of the nursing home. They are still not discussing a release date.
AJ called me and he was in one of the local ERs with chest pain. He had a batch of blood work, some X-rays, and a CT scan. They gave him a morphine shot and he sounded pretty groggy.

We don't need both of you down. AJ's chest pains are self-inflicted, he smokes. I just seem to come down with things. Last time I went in the hospital, it was for cystitis (bladder infection).
