I am opening the letters by hand, no letter opener. Get yourself one of these. Cheap and they work great.
Letter opener.
You might want to look for one with an earlier delivery date.

Watched the early evening news last night and noticed the.next hurricane name is Patty. Hopefully, Patty will stay out to sea and just stir up a few fishes.
Last night supper was a can of pineapple chunks and a tray of Stouffer’s Meat Lover’s Lasagna. Headed off to bed about eight o’clock, called family, and was asleep about nine o’clock
Kept waking up for comfort stops about every ninety minutes. Decided to get up a bit before four o’clock, Went in the business room and watched the ABC 13 morning news. Drifted off to sleep about the time the news ended.
Woke up and called AJ and asked when we could be ready to go to the bank. He said in a half hour
I took my walker to the Tundra and got in. We had three stops running errands.
First stop was the Macy’s in Baybrook Mall. Isaiah had forgotten something that he needed at work and AJ took it to him. Today, Isaiah was boxing up outgoing shipments.
Second stop was the Amegy Bank branch on Bay Area Boulevard. We first tried to deposit the check in the ATM but the ATM wouldn’t cooperate. So, AJ pulled into a parking place and got my walker out. I went in with the check and deposited it. Amegy changed the procedure since the last time I deposited a check with a teller. On the way out, the New Accounts person held the door open for me. AJ and I got me and the walker back in the Tundra.
Last stop was the HEB in Webster. Was able to get to a scooter without difficulty today. Bought 43 items for $140.88, namely: A Marie Callendar’s beef pot pie A Marie Callendar’s cheesy chicken bacon pot pie A box of four Marie Callendar’s chicken pot pies A carton of HEB creamy macaroni salad Two cartons of large Stouffer’s Meat Lover’s Lasagna Two six-bar cartons of HEB strawberry frozen fruit bars A loaf of HEB thin sandwich white bread A HEB family size tub of rotisserie chicken breast lunchmeat A bag of HEB finely shredded Mexican blend cheese A ten-slice tray of HEB Swiss cheese A ten-slice tray of HEB Colby Jack cheese A squeeze bottle of Daisy sour cream A ten-slice tray of HEB Provolone cheese A value pack of bone in pork chops A 5# chub of 80% lean ground chuck Two seven-ounce tubs of HEB beef pastrami A ten-slice tray of HEB Cheddar cheese Two eleven-ounce cans of HEB mandarin oranges Two small cans of HEB fruit cocktail Two cans of HEB petite diced tomatoes Two small cans of Dole pineapple chunks in pineapple juice A can of mild HEB diced tomatoes and green chilies Three one-gallon jugs of Red Diamond Sugar Free Tea A one-gallon jug of Red Diamond Sweet Tea Two small cans of HEB sliced peaches Two cans of HEB stewed tomatoes Two loaves of HEB Super Duper Butter Bread A party size bag of HEB Casa Magnificada tortilla chips A twenty-ounce bottle of HEB Diet Dr B Two packets of McCormick Less Sodium Mild Taco Seasoning
Went through the checkout, paid for the groceries, and headed out to the Tundra.AJ loaded the groceries.
At the house,AJ, John, and Michelle unloaded the groceries and I went in the house.
Had mandarin oranges,,creamy macaroni salad, and pastrami and Provolone cheese sandwiches with sugar free item.
Medicare Home Health nurse came to see me. She commented the place on my center left toe was oozing but it wasn’t infected.
Watched the KPRC Channel 2 afternoon news.
Aftert the news was over, I went to my bedroom, stretched out on my bed, keyboarded, and listened to SiriusXM Classic Rewind.

Lorando--I am surprised you have issues with Culligan. We have always had good service with them. Is it the same repair person who comes? If Congress would do away with the electoral college, there would be few if any pivotal states as every vote counts. When Trump won in 2016, he did not have a majority of the popular vote, but small wins in large states. He didn't have a majority of the popular vote again in 2020. I don't see the law passes requiring a passport to leave the border area. At one time, a citizen needed a passport to enter the country.
Sneakers--You might consider a letter opener. Even a knife can help. Our trash days are the same but didn't get picked up Tuesday. So far they haven't come today. If they skip today I will demand a 25% discount on our bill.
Good side from the city is the crew installed the pole for the streetlight. Will install the light itself today, so they say. Four more in other parts of the neighborhood.
Game last night went well, but not much scoring. Another varsity game tonight and then a volleyball game tomorrow morning.

Good Morning, Sneakers. Sounds like you had a full day yesterday, but it was nice that you could get out of the house for awhile to the bank and grocery store. Were you keeping up with family as regularly, while you were in rehab? Glad Isaiah is feeling better enough to be back to work. Sounds like a good job, where he doesn't have to deal with customers, like Patty does. Hope the World Series lives up to all the hype tonight.
Hello, soutxed. I have to say that all the people from Culligan have been very cordial; I'm just going through all the steps so we can get to the "Now What?" stage. Been working all morning on the Nov. 3 Baptism Ceremony. The one from a couple years was for a child, but there aren't too many changes -- just a lot of typing with this stupid space bar that doesn't work well. I think I need a new keyboard. Being a former Soc. Studies teacher, you probably know more than me about what the heck was on the minds of the founding fathers when they invented the Electoral College. You're getting a street light! That's great. When I was a kid, we always played "Kick the Can" under the corner street light in the summers. I'm sure the neighbors didn't like it too much, but we sure did. It was a different world back then.

It was a pretty full day. I didn’t call the family every night, not much to report. Back to going through snail mail. Decided a knife wasn’t that good for opening mail. No mail for me to open today, AJ got our only mailpiece. A political postcard that I already got asking me not to vote for “soft on crime Democrat judges.”

Opened a shoebox. Discovered it was full of accumulated items that mostly need shredding.A lot of it dates back to 2022. A number of HEB receipts. See what groceries sold for two years ago.Pretty much what they do now as that was after the worst of the inflation.
We had a high temperature record today of 92 degrees.
Shredder bin nearly full.

Medicare Home Health nurse came to see me. She commented the place on my center left toe was oozing but it wasn’t infected. Do they know why it is doing this? Pressure from the missing big toe?

I think it’s because I wear a sandal on the left foot to get around the wound care bandage and the center toe gets rubbed back and forth by the forefoot strap.

My blood donation Thursday well off without a hitch. No problem at all. It was nice to head home knowing I didn't have to go to bed early. Friday was the last of the three extra days off. Saturday I'll be attending the Safety Awards ceremony for work. I should get my award for 8 years of driving safe. As I've mentioned before, it should be 9, but someone didn't put us down for a certain kind of meeting around 2019. Got my covid and flu shot today. Nice to get that taken care of. My arm is hurting now, but hopefully not for long. soutxed, Wednesday was a professional day. Thursday and Friday were parent-teacher interviews. The Principal told me they do the interviews twice a year and will talk with all the parents this week. In March, they only talk to the parents they "have to", which doesn't sound good for someone. I do remember you saying when this happened to you, there was one parent you didn't look forward to seeing. Sure hope my words don't bring back bad memories. There have been three Provincial elections recently. But, I think you are referring to, some members of the Liberal Party of Canada asked the Prime Minister to step down. He said no. He intends to lead the party for the next federal election, which could be soon or October next year at the latest. The New Democratic Party has supported the liberals since the last election. The Liberals have a minority government, but recently have withdrawn that support. So, if they lose a vote of no-confidence, we will have an election about 30 days later. The next federal election date isn't certain right now. lorando (NW PA), Thursday I got my winter tires put on. About ten minutes after leaving the dealership, my car said one of the tires was low on air. I headed back as soon as I could. That is the third time my car has told me about low air in the last six months. I'm keeping an eye on it now. I remember they said back in 2016, Hillary Clinton didn't go to some battle ground states and lost. Sounds like the democrats aren't going to let that happen this time. Are candidates sending text message after text message new this time? TGIF! Take care everyone.

lorando: It does sound like Isaiah has a better job than me. I am looking anywhere for a new job. I just don't want retail. I cannot stand peoples' attitudes. The baptismal ceremony sounds like a lot of work. Good luck with that.
Soutxed: I hope your trash got picked up today (Friday). Not only is it an inconvenience but you have no where to put trash that is already starting to accumulate. I would take money off my bill too.
Uncle: It is good that you got your vaccines over with. However, I hope you feel alright for the rewards ceremony tomorrow (Saturday). Good that your blood donation went well.
Sneakers: You are getting back into the normal daily life at home now. And what a shopping list, Sneakers. You mentioned about Isaiah's job in one of your posts. I would love a part-time position packing orders. They must be light in weight too as he just had problems with his lungs. Hopefully he is healing well now.
Side Note: Illegals as well as noncitizens can vote in the upcoming election. I wish I could vote 10 times, in the same election if I felt like it. I remember going to vote and was asked for an ID. No more. Times have really changed and not for the better.

Patty--That illegals and non-citizens are voting is another rumor spread om social media and then a mainstream network picks it up. There may be a few who got a crooked election official to register them. Yesterday at the early voting in San Antonio, an election clerk was hit by a disgruntle voter who was told to cover his shirt advertising a candidate. The crew putting up the streetlight yesterday are in the same department as trash pickup. I mentioned it to the foreman and 30 minutes later a garbage truck came. Also, the next-door neighbor called again.
Lorando--Yankees lost last night on a walk-off grand slam. Came home from working a game, turned on the series and saw LA up by one, Yankees batting with two outs and decided to change the local news to catch the HS footballs scores. The reason for the Electoral College was in the late 1700s and 1800, there was no social media, TV- Radio news. It was assumed that average citizens would not know the candidates so they voted for a local elector who went to the state capital in Decmeber and they somehow would know more about the candidates. Acutally a vote for Trump/Vance is a vote for the Republican electors from your state. If you remember, in 2020, Trump supporters were trying to get the votes from GOP electors who did not have majority vote in their state. Also, the framers of the constitution did not anticipate political parties. George Washington warned against the formation of political parties. i think he was right.
Uncle--There were several parents who I try to forget, but many more who were supportive. Glad we don't have to deal with winter tires.
Streetlight was installed and it is nice. There are two more to be installed in the neighborhood but on other streets.
Had a doctor's appointment but got there and found out I am not scheduled for one until next year.
Got a 9th grade Volleyball game.
Game went well until 4th quarter when the scoreboard went out. But the two play clocks still worked so the game continued. Was rebooted for the last two minutes, but the game was a blowout.

Good Afternoon, Uncle. I hope the reaction to your shots was mild. You must be pretty confident, scheduling it the day before your Safety Award Ceremony. And, by the way, a big congratulations on your 9 straight years of safety. Well done in such a tricky winter weather environment. Your teachers are lucky that they can cancel the second parent-teacher conference if not needed. Sometimes, especially if I had taught a sibling or two earlier, the final conference was just catching up on how the older kids were doing--which was fun, but didn't serve much educational purpose for the child we were supposed to be concentrating on. Sounds like you're all set for winter, with your snow tires changed over and ready for business. I finished waxing my car on Wednesday for the last time this year. Most waxes don't recommend them being used under 60°F. Tuesday is snow tire day for me--better too early than too late.
Hi, Patty. Halloween is coming up. Boo! You'll probably see some unusual sights if you're working that day (or night). Our town has a huge night-time family parade every year, which seems like an appropriate time of day for goblins and spooky things to be out. Trick or Treating is actually on Halloween this year from 6:00 to 7:30, but no one ever comes to the apartments.
Hi, soutxed. Well, the first game of the World Series sure lived up to the hype. LA has a beautiful field. I always miss the games when Yankees have a west coast road trip, and the games start at 11PM. Oh, well, on to game #2. Won't see it all, because Sunday is my early wake-up day. Good explanation of the Electoral College! And even photos in newspapers didn't catch on until the late 1800s. That was probably a plus for Abraham Lincoln. Never judge a book by it cover!!
Good Afternoon, Sneakers. Is getting in and out of the Tundra difficult for you? I have a friend, who has one, and it's a climb for me to get in - I'm short and getting shorter! Decided to replace this magic keyboard with the stuck space bar. It's on an Amazon delivery van and will be delivered later today. And guess what. The space bar seems to be working fine again today. But the new one is regular USB, not bluetooth, and it has a full size number pad and several short cut keys, so it will be welcome. Also a new electric blanket for winter. My old one was a bit too heavy and even setting it to "1" was sweltering.

I’m still going through accumulated snail mail but I’m beginning to see the bottom of the pile. AJ went grocery shopping last night. We have five mouths to feed. Although Michelle gets food stamps, the other four don’t. Isaiah was conflicted last night. He was discussing with his Dad whether he should heal a bit more or continue to work. I said we can eat fine without his contributions.

The Tundra is a few inches off the ground for me but my arms are strong enough to grab the handhold and pull myself aboard. The ThinkPad has a shortcut key.Recently learned that. I have it programmed to start GBO. Don’t need electric blankets in Houston as far as I’m concerned, but I don’t know if the stores have them for the cold blooded among us.

Last night, Michelle made us nachos. Plenty of dairy sour cream on mine.
Took my bedtime pills and went to bed a few minutes after eleven o’clock. Woke up two or three times for comfort stops.
Woke up about ten o’clock in the morning. Was not happy to discover I had leaked urine while sleeping. Went to the bathroom and then put on a fresh T-shirt and diaper and a clean pair of sweatpants that I had worn before.
Went in the business room and turned SiriusXM The Bridge.
Fell asleep, had weird dreams, and woke up about two o’clock in the afternoon.
Went in kitchen and got an eight ounce can of Dole pineapple chunks in pineapple juice and a jug of sugar free tea. Had the first part of lunch and my morning pills.
Made a comfort stop and back to the kitchen for pastrami Cheddar cheese, and HEB Super Duper Butter Bread.
Made and ate a couple of Cheddar and pastrami sandwiches.
Took the remaining food back to the kitchen.
Read E-mail and commented.
Could not find charging cable for the cell phone. Got on Amazon and ordered one for delivery later today. If I later find my charging cable I’ll just have a spare one.
