There must be some special challenges out there...I know of at least one user who is getting more than 3,025 points today...according to the All-Time Points Leaderboard.

Gas Buddy purposely wants an uneven playing field, that is the main reason for the Price Grandmaster challenge,it has made the monthly & 1/2 yearly leaderboards useless. They also introduced challenges, that are for uneven or odd numbers of points, so it makes it harder to compare with someone else. Then they also automatically enter every new user in the gas card draw and that is why a disproportionate number of newbys win....

JonLaura5 - At some point you posted a desire to have a survey on how many have faked their locations for the purpose of extra points. If you post one here, I'd be glad to take it and give my own unique response. (Hint: I can think of a legitimate use for faking a GPS reading, and would be glad to share it in such a post.)

I never did anything more on the survey question. I was hoping to just learn about possible ways it could be done other than my own understanding of how it could be done. The only legitimate use I could see for faking a GPS position would be: - in the case of a long-haul truck driver, posting prices they saw or wrote down along their travels - as I don't believe truckers are allowed to text and drive under CDL rules. - in the case of someone posting some prices they remembered seeing on the way to the airport...but forgot to post...and a couple hours later, are in another city...or even from the plane over airplane wifi.

Hmmm, those were two I haven't thought of. Since you shared yours, and have decided against the survey question, I'll share mine: - Many places out "in the boondocks" in SW VA, NW, NC, and southern WV (for example) have poor or nonexistent cell reception, or local carriers who don't have sharing or roaming agreements with the national ones. In a place like that, (and also absent an available Wi-Fi network at those locations) one could spot prices and not be able to post them onsite - but GB only considers prices within five miles of the location to be good prices. You could try posting from elsewhere, but those prices wouldn't "stick" on the mobile app. One solution I could see for this would be to fake your location once you returned to civilization and post from there. You'd still be posting a price you'd actually seen as close to real time as you can. But since you mentioned "texting and driving" laws, that would be another case, and not only for truckers. Laws vary by state, but here in NC only texting and e-mail per se are banned, and only while the vehicle is in motion - at least for now (so using GasBuddy on the go is legal - but you'd still be responsible if you caused an accident that way). Many states, however, such as on the West Coast, NY, GA, WV, and most Canadian provinces have no-touch laws that say you can't touch a mobile device for any reason unless the vehicle is legally parked (so even stop signs and red lights are excluded). I can definitely see the use of faking locations in those circumstances.

Finally able to complete the Get Fuel Fit challenge and get some points. However you had to use the 1000 points you earned to enter the drawing in order to complete the challenge. Good luck for everybody on the draw. Maybe one of these days someone you know (or you) will win it.

uh oh, there goes the neighborhood again
I decided to stop trying earning points on the app although I am doing the minimum to keep my consecutive days. If I put one entry in the contest every day I will have nearly 200 days of entries. I should have as good a chance to win as all those one and done or low score winners.

I’d like to see you win one of the gas cards. I don’t remember ever seeing any members that I see regularly win one. I wish you luck on accomplishing that.

All you really have to do is read a news article to keep your consecutive days going.

On the home page of the GasBuddy App, if one was to scroll down, there is a banner that states:
