So, I was told by someone on here that Canada magically has some sort of Special Challenge available to them all week long...
Can ANY other Canadian GB verify this?? I have by doubts.

I live in Canada and I haven’t received any points out of the ordinary but it sure seems like everyone around me on the leaderboard sure is and not just from Canada. The entire website and points system has become just one big complete joke. Are you seeing any special points for Canadians this week? Someone reported to the mod here that there is Canadian only challenges running this week? I've yet to see it in some Canadian users I track on points...except those who seem to always earn extra Canadian only points around here. |

Further, it was mentioned to me this week that there was some special challenge going on in Canada this week and Canadians were getting extra points! So, I did a little digging into this supposed extra points challenge for Canadians this week to debunk it... On the All-Time Leaderboard, there are 11 Canadians in the Top 113 GasBuddies (I had to go down to 113 to find 11 different random Canadians) who earned the normal amount of user points today (2,025 or 3,025 (if getting their weekly 1k bonus). These HONEST Canadian Gas Buddies have literally been on GasBuddy 18-21 years - Some have records of posting for almost 5,900 straight days in a row - that's literarily posting gas prices, every day, for over 16 years straight!!!!). Of ALL of these 11 Canadians in the top 113 of the Gas Buddy All-Time Leaderboard - not ONE of them has received extra points this week! - ** Note: There are actually 13 Canadians in the top 113 All-Time Leaderboard but I'm not allowed to mention two of them here. --- Of course, to some, there's nothing to see here!!! ---  Sunlight is the best disinfectant

On another note, CGB2 moved up 3 places (two places just today) on the All-Time Leaderboard within the past month!
Not bad, considering NO ONE has changed more than one place, in the Top 50, within the past year.
Yet, CGB1 & CGB2 have each passed multiple Gas Buddies.

GB2 - 4,025 points on 4/25 (note: NO other GB's, including the top 13 Canadian GB's earned 4,025 points on this date)
GB3 - 2,225 points on 4/26 (note: NO other GB's, including the top 13 Canadian GB's earned and extra 200 points on this date)
GB3 is notorious for earning 2,225 points on various dates.
Since Feb 2020, GB3 has earned an extra 200 points on at least 162 instances
162 * 200 extra points = 32,400 extra points (or 26 places on the all-time leaderboard)
Note: ALL GB points are PUBLICLY available on a daily basis and can be retrieved via any of the Internet archive websites (ex. WayBack Machine).

Did everyone enjoy the bonus points today? Most earned an extra 3,000 points. Those who coupled the 3,000 bonus points with their weekly 1,000 points were able to earn 6,025 points. Great Job! So... Then, how was GB#2 able to earn 8,025 points today??? Some might guess that the 8,025 points was his monthly 6,000 points bonus coupled with a normal 2,025 point day. But, GB#2 already earned his May 6k bonus back on Monday, May 2nd when he earned 9,025 (2,025+1,000+6,025) points for that day. So... How could GB#2 possibly have earned an extra 3,000 points today?? - Android phone GPS trick for both the US & Canada? - Two Phones?? -  ...and GB#3 is back to his extra 200 points earning as he was able to score 5,225 points (thinking no one would notice) today. Added a GB#5 & GB#6 to tracking... GB#6 today is already up to 6,825 points today! Interestingly, GB#6 was in the upper 500 level on the All-Time Leaderboard back in Feb 2020 - today he's sitting in the lower 400's on the All-Time Leaderboard. GB#6 has gained 142 spots on the All-Time Leaderboard in 2+ years. For reference, I've only gained 6 spots in that same time frame.... Further reference. GB#6 has earned 2,159,725 points since Feb 2020 I have earned 2,083,200 points from that same date in Feb 2020. GB#6 has earned 76,525 more points than I have during the same time period. I have over 6k consecutive days - It's a rare day that I miss the max daily, weekly, monthly, & bonus points. I think the last time I missed some points was in a weekly poll about 2-3 years ago! But as they say, Nothing to see here! --- |

The "extra points earning" continues...
GB#1 - 5,025 points yesterday - Another 5,025 points today! (TWO 3,000 point bonus's in 2 days - will he do it for 3 days in a row?)
GB#2 - No extra points for him today - he got both 3,000 point bonus's yesterday.
GB#3 - 5,225 points yesterday (his 200 point extra point bonus that he likes to get) & 4,400 points already today (but he has time, he's from Vancouver, so there's still time for him to top off).
GB# 4, 5, & 6 - All quiet today...
