So, Hope everyone enjoyed their extra 500 points today from the survey that GasBuddy put up. That was nice of them! In looking around at various members points, I see some got 2,525 points today (like myself). Others, coupled their 500 bonus points with the weekly bonus (1,000) points and got 3,525 points!!! It was great to see that most user in the top 100 were all able to take advantage of the extra 500 points! EXCEPT OF COURSE, Certain Canadian GB's who are never satisfied just getting an extra 500 points...they have to take it a step further and get even more! ...thus the title of this thread! While one Canadian GB got as high as #6 in his extra points stealing ways...he gave up (or GB finally banned him) and he has been slowly dropping off the all time leader board and is now down in the 30's last I checked... One GB here was even so nice enough to send me a note when I had passed him! So, today, while everyone was enjoying their extra 500 points...someone decided to get an extra 500 points (I guess GB has not yet fixed that GPS spoofing bug. Canada ran the "We want to hear from you" challenge as well. Thus anyone who crosses the border (or uses a fake GPS app) was able to pick up the 500 points in both the USA and Canada.
On the good side the last 3 or 4 Canada unique challenges have only been in English. In other words there was no French language version available in Quebec. Quebec travelers now see the Canada unique challenges in English only. So there is no "Canadian double dip" on the Canada unique challenges as there was previously.
Also for what it is worth. The old "midnight double dip" has been eliminated. For many years if you completed any challenge within the first 1-2 seconds after midnight you could then complete that challenge a second time for a double dip on the points. GB finally ended that double dip potential about 1 month ago.

So today, in the US, there was a 1000 point bonus for Valero. Many US GB's got the extra 1,000 points. In the top 125 All-Time Leaderboard, only TWO (2) Canadian GB, out of 16 Canadian GB's in the top 125, rcvd the extra points. Can't wait to hear how Gas Buddy support explains this one away...  |

Usually when there has been an extra US challenge there has also been a corresponding extra challenge available in the Canadian provinces. Sometimes the subject is the same as the US. Sometimes the subject is unique to Canada, e.g. Tim Hortons.
However, on the most recent extra US challenge there has been no extra Canadian challenge. At least none that I have seen. So I suspect that those two Canadians you noted got across the border (either by driving or visiting virtually). |

Extra points in Canada for quite a few, for Monday, May 22nd.
Of course, the "ONE" Canadian user who usually doubles points everywhere (incl. US Challenges) was able to score 5,025 points today...
No other Canadian GB in the top 125 scored 5,025 points. Most had 3,025 or even 4,025 points for Monday...

It appears that extra Bonus Points were handed out to Canadian GB's today. Does anyone want to share what they were for and how many total points one could earn?
I see that the same Toronto user who was able to double-dip on Monday's points was able to double-dip again today and earned 4,025 points while most Canadian GB's in the top 125 of the All-Time Leaderboard only earned 3,025 points...so he's back to double-dipping and cheating again.
There was only ONE other Canadian user who I track who also earned 4,025 points - that's a user from Vancouver, who often hangs out on these boards.

Someone reached out and let me know that the Canadian Challenge was for a promotion for the McDonalds app.
Most only got it once - 1,000 Extra Challenge Points. Some (the same actors over and over) were able to double it and earn Extra, Extra Challenge points!

There was a Special Challenge for something this morning...Frankly, I forget what it was for...but it was for 1,000 points.
In reviewing some Canadian user point totals, I'm seeing many Canadian GB's did not get the extra 1000 points - these are the 13-15 Canadian GB's in the top 125.
Did Canada GB sites get the 1000 point special challenge today?

Today, there was 1,000 point Special Challenge that was available for all - Canadians, American's, etc. I posted about it in the Special Challenges thread. Yet, some were able to game the GB app for extra points today using the Special Challenge, as I have documented here on other occasions. I indicate that they were able to game the GB app for more points, as only a few were able to garner more points than almost everyone else. I have been told that GB does not have rules specifically banning the gaming of the system for points, so therefor I should not call it cheating. The reason I post about it here though, is that those that game the system for extra points, seem to be certain Canadian GB's - the same repeat gamers over and over. While most of us today only rcvd 3,025 points (or 4,025 points if you topped it up with the weekly challenge), a certain Canadian GB was able to pull 6,025 points out of today's Special Challenge.  |

OK, I'll bite. Where is this Special Challenge? It did not appear on my phone today in Minnesota, and I can't find the "Special Challenge Thread" It is still Monday in my time zone.

I posted a screenshot of the Special Challenge over in the Special Challenges Thread in the Misc. group I randomly select groups of users and view their daily points totals to validate that a Special Challenge is widely available. If you want to view any users points, it's publicly available - just copy/paste: www.gasbuddy.com/member/XXXX into any web browser and replace the XXXX's with a GB user name to see their daily point totals as in the example post above. ------ ...the Special Challenge was hosted by Flying J / Pilot Gas Stations and seeing that they exist almost everywhere that there are GB's (well, maybe not Newfoundland), it should have been in your area as there are 6 locations in MN.  If you have an Android phone, use a GPS spoofer app like others do to get points for other area Special Challenges. I've been told, here, that GB does not have rules that specifically ban their use (or other gaming of their app/website for points), so therefore I am not allowed to complain about their use by others. |

Thank you for replying JL5. I just found that posting on the 2nd page of the Misc page. It looks like things get buried pretty quickly there due to the activity.
But no, that challenge never appeared on my page, and yes there is a Pilot 35 miles south of me, and a Flying J about 60 miles north of me. (shrugs)
