Good Morning, Sneakers. Glad your toe is looking better, your Think Pad is all charged up, and your freezer is well stocked. Life is good!! I didn't sleep much last night after watching the final game of the World Series. The Yankees were good enough to overcome their flaws during the regular season, but not against a well balanced team like the Dodgers. A tip of the cap to L.A.; then back to the drawing board for next year. Four more days of political mailings and ads; then another month of Medicare Advantage Plan ads! It will be good for the letter carrier's ego to have people happy to see the little white van coming to their neighborhood again soon.
I am happiest that I can use the ThinkPad again. A keyboard is easier than the "hunt and peck" I have to do on the iPad even with the predictive data entry. Have to watch the screen to see the three words the predictive data entry brings up.
Started in last night watching the World Series partway through. When I started, the Yankees were ahead 5-0. While I was out of the business room, the Dodgers had tied it up 5-5. Then, I saw the rest of the game.
Thinking I'm going to buy an updated ThinkPad today. My current one won't run Windows 11 and next October Microsoft is going to sunset Windows 10. Good time to buy a new machine because I didn't buy myself food since the last week of July. And I want to buy it before Trump can raise the price of laptops.
Rain is coming down outside and I can hear thunder outside. Just looked outside and saw a flash of lightning that was a couple of miles to the south.
Got three Medicare Advantage ads, all of which went in the shredder. Looked at Informed Delivery. Got a postcard coming with a political ad on it. Looked at it and found that I'm already planning to vote for their endorsed candidates.
Monday, AJ is going to be a pallbearer at a funeral. I will have the house to myself because the boys and Michelle also plan to go. I'll have to get up and open the door with the Medicare Home Health nurse comes. I will likely see the nurse pull up in his vehicle.

Sneakers--You just bought a cart load of groceries, and you got more, but then with all the people in the household, I can see a lot of money going to HEB. Good for wife's retirement fund.
AJ goes grocery shopping at other than HEB. The store that he goes to is more expensive than HEB unless he bites the bullet and goes to Walmart. He says too many people go to HEB and it's a zoo. I don't think of it as particularly a zoo but I go there during non-peak hours.
We are having a thunderstorm outside.
I intend to order a new ThinkPad that will run Windows 11. Want to buy it before Trump makes the prices of laptops soar through the roof. Microsoft will sunset Windows 10 in 2025. My old ThinkPad is worth a bit more than $100 as a trade-in. Lenovo has so many different machines that it will take a while to figure out which one I should buy. Planning to buy one with 16 GB of RAM and a terabyte of storage. Can't get by with only 512 GB. But the ones that have the option of two terabytes of storage only cost $22 more. Get an additional 5% discount at Lenovo for being a senior citizen. That totaled out to be about $41 on the machine that I tentatively looked at last night.
Have boxes that cell phone and ThinkPad AC adaptor came in sitting around messing up the place. AJ commented negatively on the business room getting messy again. I told him that I will trash them today.
Will eat lunch when the noon news is over.

Went to bed last night just after 11:00 PM. Woke up about 5:00 AM this morning.
Went in the business room and turned on the FOX 26 morning news. Fell asleep on and off until about eight o'clock.
Watched the morning news until ten o'clock, then an hour of CNBC.
Switched to ABC 13 for the eleven o'clock news and "Jeopardy!" The question for the Final Jeopardy answer was "What's an armadillo?"
Switched to KPRC Channel 2 for the noon news.
At one o'clock, I turned on CNBC and got lunch. An eight-ounce can of sliced peaches, some HEB creamy macaroni salad, and salami and Gouda cheese sandwiches. Had nothing left to take back to the kitchen but the dirty plate and silverware.
At three o'clock, I switched to KPRC Channel 2 for the late afternoon news.
Ordered a ThinkPad T16 Gen 2 with an AMD processor from Lenovo. They estimate that I will get it between the 22nd and 26th of November. It has 16 GB of RAM, 2 TB of SSD storage, Windows 11 Pro 64 bit, and a wireless broadband modem.
Need to toss the boxes that my replacement AC adaptor and cell phone came in. Tomorrow is trash day. I have a Medicare Home Health nurse visit scheduled for tomorrow afternoon.
Should get my Boeing pension payment about ten o'clock tonight. Need to get it, my main checking account is down to $0.00 right now.
Nobody has gotten today's snail mail. We are having storms outside.

Sneakers: Why would Donald Trump be increasing the prices on laptops? I do not see your reasoning whatsoever. What is Kamala Harris going to do? Reduce the prices? You should have waited on your purchase. You could have been paying close to nothing with what she promises.
Got a terrible diagnosis from a doc today. It is strange that the doc waited 2 weeks to get back to me on any of this. I got the report via the portal but did not understand all the medical jargon. But I guess in today's world I am supposed to. The copay for this visit will not be paid until I get spoken to in person.. Doc stated to wait until December for another test, prior to my diagnosis. NP also told me today, that I need all my images before their big meeting with the radiologist next Wednesday to discuss my case. Nice!!!!
I appreciate all the time Everyone has spent on this thread over the last 6+ years. It has been a pleasure to get to know Everyone better.
Thanks Everyone.

You should have waited on your purchase. You could have been paying close to nothing with what she promises. Laptops aren't made in the US. Donald Trump wants to place tariffs on all imported products. To the tune of at least 20%. Talk about being inflationary. Don't know what Kamala Harris is going to do, it's not a sure thing that she can bring down prices, and I'll be using the new laptop that will have a warranty and support. Mine is old enough that they've discontinued support but at least I could get an AC adaptor for it Good thing I decided to buy a new power cord because my original AC adaptor takes a three-pin power cord that would not fit the new AC adaptor.

Hello, Sneakers. I didn't accomplish too much yesterday, but I did manage to sweep out some of the leaves that blow into the garage every time I raise the door. A leaf blower would be nice, but I'd settle for a wider broom. It rained (or maybe not) during the night. It's almost 7:30AM and it's still pitch black outside. Resetting the clocks tomorrow night should take care of that. Did you get your empty cartons out to the curb for today's pickup? Oh, no! I'm starting to sound like A.J.. Sorry. The new keyboard is learning to spell much better than a week ago. I just have to hold my arms in a bit closer when I'm typing.
Good Morning, Patty. I get it! Waiting for all the pieces to come together before issuing a diagnosis must be terrible, especially when you don't seem to have a part in the discussion. But try to reach back for some extra patience. It's better they get it right.
Hi, soutxed. Glad your SIL accepted the blood donation. Sounds like she's lived a simple and sheltered life, and has a hard time with any changes. I guess we're all a sum total of our experience, education, and environment, so it's hard to find fault. She's lucky to be around people who care about her. You and your wife did a good thing convincing her to change her mind. I got up early this morning to fill in the monthly financial spreadsheet. The new keyboard has a number pad, which made it a lot more fun (It doesn't take much to amuse me). It's not that complicated, but kind of interesting to compare, now that I have 20 years of data to look over.
Hello, Uncle. I hope you're enjoying your short week. Leaves are falling in earnest now. I walked on the hiking trail a few times last week, and the crunching of leaves underfoot was very satisfying. It's been a super warm and dry October. Lots of minor brush fires.

Lorando--SIL can accept changes, but when it comes to things outside of family and her job, she does not know much. Doesn't watch or read the news, barely knew who was running for President. Her life was devoted to Rasing her children which she didn't do well her job as a McDonald's manager. I think the warm weather in the northeast is about to end. Still warm here. Glad you're getting use to the new keyboard.
Patty--Don't sound so negative. Hopefully the doctors can get together and work out a plan for you. Unlike SIL, at least you are aware of the medical procedures going on.
Sneakers--You are right about Trump tariffs. One of my things is when it comes to Federal office holders, one term and done. But our Congressional Representative election, both candidates have served at least one term. The GOP candidate defeated the current rep in 2021 in a special election. Then she lost in 2022, so we have a rematch. However the Democratic candidate along with 20+ other representatives from both parties have introduced a bill to eliminate the WEP which deducts a big portion of our Social Security payments if we have a state pension. Other candidates staff who respond to emails don't seem to know what it is.
Halloween went well. The party at the hospital was good, lots of interesting costumes.
Trunk or Treat at church was fun. But we ran out of Candy. Then went to Chili's to eat and watch the Texan game. They lost to the Jets.
Found out my Amazon package which was coming today is still in Katy and now will be delivered by USPS. Aho knows when I get it.

The empty cartons went in the trash can and the trash bag has been removed and it's ready for somebody to take it to the curb. Just saw AJ and he's happy that I'm going through the shoebox of accumulated mail. Although I told AJ I'm currently taKing a break to write this.
The bandage on my left foot came unraveled last night when I was sleeping. I decided to leave it open to the air until Paul the nurse comes this afternoon.
I'll get to learn a new keyboard in a few weeks but I don't expect it to be a lot different. Seven years and I recently programmed the user configurable hotkey on my current ThinkPad. It is set to kick off GBO, something I do a good bit.

Got my Boeing pension early this morning. Paid all my bills and put all but $10 on one of my credit cards. Next money, Social Security Retirement, comes the 27th.
Going to have to remind John that today is trash day. He never seems to figure it out on his own. Going to take him the trash bag and go in the kitchen and get a glass of water. I've drank all the sugar-free tea which is my preference. No pop, all we have is canned Red Cross disaster drinking water. May need to go to HEB to get tea and milk as we're out of tea and nearly out of milk.
It would be good for you if Congress eliminated the Windfall Elimination Provision. Any idea how much you'd be getting if they did?
I have been shredding the rest of the shoebox of accumulated snail mail while watching CNBC.
Boeing may have the Machinists' strike settled. I'd settle for a 38% wage increase over four years and a $12,000 ratification bonus. Used to be in Wichita that when Boeing paid a ratification bonus you could notice the financial effects in Metro Kansas City. I went and bought a turntable in Kansas City with the bonus that I got in 1977. And my nephew Christopher when he was young he called a turntable a "big black CD player."

Hi Soutxed: I am not being negative. I was given a diagnosis yesterday from doc and NP. They waited 2 weeks before I was called. The NP called initially and stated she was supposed to call earlier in the week but she hates calling people with diagnoses like mine. She stated it is the worst part of her job. The meeting next Wednesday is too make some sort of a treatment plan, if that can be cone. I am not doing any treatment. I will not prolong suffering. My parents were the same way. I have come from a pool of bad genes. But I am fine with it. It is not being negative; it is accepting what the hell life throws at you and I have accepted it. Let life take its course naturally. That is all I have to say on this subject!!!
Soutxed, You have complained on here about different issues and I don't mind. But under no circumstance am I complaining or being negative. I am just stating what I heard via the phone call and the running around that I must do to get study material and reports. In turn, I have to drive 30 miles from the pickup site to the office where the doc, NP and radiologists meeting will take place next Wednesday.

This morning, I ate lunch before noon. I had an eleven-ounce can of mandarin oranges with Provolone and pastrami sandwiches.
Watched the KPRC Channel 2 noon news.
AJ said I needed to take a shower before the nurse comes. So, I did. Turned off the air conditioning while I was in the shower and got dressed. Orange pocket T-shirt, light gray sweatpants, and a pair of Amazon Basics disposable diapers.
Watched the tail end of the stock trading day on CNBC. Taxable brokerage account down 0.23% on the day.
Switched to KPRC Channel 2 at 3:00 PM, plan to stay on it until 6:30 PM.
I was getting groggy because I got up early this morning. Medicare Home Health nurse Paul showed up about 3:30 PM and rebandaged my remaining rightmost toe on my left foot. He said it was oozing a little, but the ooze was neither green nor odorous. I told him that Monday I am going to be the only one in the house. AJ, Michelle, and the boys are going to a funeral but I don't know the deceased.
Need to go to HEB but if I don't go AJ will end out at Food Town paying about 20% more. He comments Food Town is never crowded.

Update: Now I find out about 4:30 this afternoon that I will not need my MRI disc(s) for Monday. I picked the disc(s) this afternoon and planned to drop them off at the doc's office on Monday. This way the doc, NP and the radiologist can go over the films this coming Wednesday. It turns out now the NP gave me the wrong information. Now, I am told you don't have to hurry with the MRI discs as they had to be at the doc's office Friday morning in order to have the radiologist view them on Wednesday. So now, the meeting for my films will not be until November 20th. What a rough situation this is. The NP has not a clue how to do her job. She also made a diagnosis while looking at a paper report rather than the films. Secondly, she told me on Thursday to hurry and get the films to the office by Monday for Wednesday's meeting. The woman at the desk, when phoning me, told me that my whole case got screwed up by the NP. I will no longer be seeing that NP.
Have a nice weekend Everyone!!!

I didn't bowl on Tuesday. The only teammate that is playing said she was sick and wouldn't play. So I took the night off. Curling Wednesday went okay, but we lost. Our skip had a bad knee and couldn't continue past the 5th end. Not sure if we could have come back or not, but their skip made a lot of good shots. Blood donation went well. I do have one question about your federal election. If someone can answer, it would be nice. Can a candidate campaign on election day? It will be nice when the adds come to an end. lorando (NW PA), you know what happens if you don't switch tires. It will snow. Your ophthalmologist appointment, glad it went well. Sorry your team didn't win the series. Such a bad 5th inning for the Yankees in game 5. Aaron Judge's only error all season. Ouch. But he wasn't the only one with an error or mistake. Did you have your hopes up or neutral with the 5-0 lead? Happy you're enjoying the crunching of leaves while you walk. It must be a satisfying feeling. soutxed, there aren't any In and Out Burger places in Canada. We have Burger King, McDonald's, A & W, Wendy's, Dairy Queen and Fatburger. There is a Canadian chain called Harvey's, but not in my city. A truck driver with 50 years experience and no accidents? He deserves an SUV. Wow. A Texans vs. Cowboys game on Thanksgiving would be something. I'd bet they would rather it be in prime time. I hope your wife's sister got the blood transfusion. TGIF! Take care everyone.

Good Morning, Uncle. That's a good question about whether candidates can campaign on Election Day. I don't know if it's law, or just tradition that they don't. I know each state has its own rules governing electioneering at poll sites. In Pennsylvania signs, banners, polling, leaflets, projected sounds, soliciting votes, or any political persuasion must stay 10 feet from the polling place. In some states it's 100 feet or 250. Also in PA, voters can wear political clothing to vote, but can't try to influence other voters inside the polling place. Some states ban wearing political shirts, badges, hats, etc. It's quite a hodge-podge of rules from state to state. I can't say I was surprised that the Yankees choked in the Series, but it was a good ride this year. I wonder how Juan Soto would look in a Mets uniform next year??? I like the sound and feel of the leaves crunching. Also warns the bears there's a human around.
Hello, Sneakers. I decided to turn the clocks back a day early, since I had the time yesterday. I might change batteries in the thermostat and smoke/carbon monoxide detector today. They usually do that as part of the annual inspection at lease renewal time, but I don't know if they did it this year or not. Wouldn't like for them to fail when I'm away this winter, or when I'm here for that matter.
Morning, Patty, Sorry you hurried to get your discs, just to have the appointment postponed. More hurry up and wait, right? Sounds like a matter of simply having common respect for patients. Getting used to the buzzing of leaf blowers in the complex the last few days. It will probably be a constant drone until December. By then I'll have to get used to silence again.😀
Good Morning, soutxed. Jets continue to be an enigma; nothing new there! Now the Texans have the Lions and Cowboys; both should be games worth watching!!🏈 Term limits come up for discussion often but what are the chances?. We have a Senator up for re-election this year who has been serving since 2007, and our U.S. Representative has been in Congress since 2011. They were never meant to be career choices! Hope you have a restful weekend. Enjoy the extra hour of sleep tonight.
