Patty--Let me apologize for my comment. With us dealing with SIL who we are trying to keep positive which has been working, I guess it hit me that way. One advantage you have is your understanding of medicine and/or the ability to research and find out what is going on. Wife tried to teach her sister about Web MD and another site to get information. If she can't do it, her daughter should be able to.
Sneakers--Is your garbage picked up one or twice a week? If there were no WEP I would have received $200 a month which would be more now with the raises. There are some who still believe state retirees shouldn't get SS because we have a good pension. My reply if you said it was you get a good, probably better, pension so what is the difference. Teacher retirement is not just tax money. The state matched our contribution. Okay, off the soapbox. When I applied, I wanted enough to cover the Medicare premium. Instead, what little I get goes toward the premium and then I am billed every two years for the difference.
Uncle--Most of the campaigning on election day is outside the voting sights. They must be a certain distance from the entrance to the polling site, but one can hear them screaming for votes. I think some commercials are still on media and there will be ads in the newspaper. Texan Cowboy game is a Monday night game. Too bad your bowling didn't work out. Does your team just get an "L" for that night?
Lorando--I have a few clocks I need to change. The one's I forget are the one in the vehicles. We plan to go out with some friends tonight (depending on SIL). Usually avoid going in Saturday as it can run late and we need to get up early for church, but with the extra hour I think we can handle it. The others in the group are Catholic and go to mass on Saturday or do not attend church. Attempts to leave early are thwarted by wife who always has one more conversation. Was that error the only Judge error for the season?
My issues with USPS continue. Another Amazon package which was supposed to arrive yesterday is sitting in Katy, which is a suburb of Houston. Or it's headed to San Antonio which is the wrong direction. Also, another package from HP also was delayed, but HP says I received it. The Post Office is mentioned in the Constitution, but I can see Trump once again appoint a postmaster who will cut services.
Stayed around the house and did some cleaning. Also put up one Christmas decoration wife just purchased.

This happened to me a while back.

Hello, Sneakers. I decided to turn the clocks back a day early, since I had the time yesterday. I might change batteries in the thermostat and smoke/carbon monoxide detector today. They usually do that as part of the annual inspection at lease renewal time, but I don't know if they did it this year or not. Wouldn't like for them to fail when I'm away this winter, or when I'm here for that matter.
Haven't yet fiddled with any clocks yet. The Boeing service award chiming clock is the only one that I have to manually turn back unless I go do the three appliance clocks (range, microwave, coffee pot) in the kitchen.
Too many pill bottles around here. Took me a while last night to find my bottle of generic Ranexa last night before I went to bed. It was sitting on my business room desk away from the other pills on the business room desk.
Need to go grocery shopping but I bought six cans of sliced peaches last time I went shopping. Bought two cans of pineapple chunks in pineapple juice and I rapidly ate through the pineapple. So, I plan to buy several cans of pineapple when I go shopping next.
Listening to SiriusXM Classic Rewind this morning. Listen to music a lot during the weekend. I watch TV most of the day weekdays. Or I should say I more listen to it than watch it.
Hadn't been taking my low-dose aspirin since I got home from the rehab. I'm still going through the blister packed pills from the rehab but I'm starting to use them up and needing to go to pill bottles. They didn't have the aspirin on a blister pack card. Just took my low-dose aspirin today. HEB store brand (two cents a pill cheaper than Amazon), chewable, and cherry flavored.
Almost time to do lunch. Not looking forward to getting up because it is somewhat uncomfortable to stand up.
Arms kind of cold, just pulled on my jacket. Business room gets flooded with cold air from the air conditioning.
Sun was shining earlier this morning, now drizzling outside.

Trash days are Tuesday and Friday. City Hall is closed Black Friday but the trash service runs that day. I usually don't fill the business room trash can between trash days but if I do I just take it to the back yard and usually John takes it to the curb.
Just saw AJ and told him we need to go grocery shopping. HEB will be a zoo this afternoon but we will let AJ sit in the Tundra while I go in and do the shopping. He parks in row "A" close to the gas pumps where there aren't a lot of vehicles and plays with his cell phone while I shop.

I ordered my groceries Curbside so I could watch the accumulating total and not have to worry about running out of funds. AJ didn't want to sit in the Tundra while I shopped and he doesn't like driving in the dark that much.
There's a nasty feature about the HEB Curbside application. It took money out of the wrong payment card because of a mouse-o. If you want to change the card, you have to cancel and re-key the order. Got plenty of money in the account now but I had a payment scheduled for the sixth that will bounce. Fortunately, it was on my debit card and they don't charge you for trying to take out too much, they just send it back.
Of the blister-packed pills I took home from the rehab, I only have two doses of thyroid hormone left. Will take them Sunday and Monday. Threw out all the other blister pack cards as all those pills have been taken.

AJ is at HEB in Webster picking up the Curbside order, which was: Two loaves of HEB Super Duper Butter Bread One loaf of HEB Thin White Sandwich Bread One box of Shake 'n Bake chicken coating mix Three one-gallon jugs of Red Diamond sugar-free tea (sweetened with Splenda) A one-gallon jug of Red Diamond sweet tea A ten-slice pack of HEB mild Cheddar cheese A 24-slice pack of HEB Easy Melt individually wrapped American cheese singles A ten-slice pack of HEB Provolone cheese Two one-gallon jugs of HEB 2% milk Two seven-ounce tubs of HEB beef pastrami A nine-ounce tub of HEB sliced rotisserie seasoned chicken breast Twelve mega rolls of HEB Our Finest Ultra Strong toilet paper A large family-size Stouffers frozen Chicken Alfredo A box of a dozen HEB ice cream crispy bars A large family-size Stouffers frozen baked ziti A package of HEB raw chicken leg quarters Eight eight-ounce cans of Dole pineapple chunks in pineapple juice
i finally got the accumulated mail sorted through, now I have a stack of mail on the desk that I need to put in the filing cabinet.

My Saturday curling team got a loss for a 1 and 2 record on the season. At least it was a close game, but their skip made a number of good shots. It is, at least, the third time in a row they have beat us. lorando (NW PA), too bad all the states don't have the same rules for the same election. I'm not sure in Canada if each province have their own rules or not for a federal election. They did change the voting hours a few years ago. Most of the country have the polls close at the same time. It's 9:30pm in the eastern time zone, 8:30 in the central time zone and 7:30 in the mountain time zone. 7pm in the Pacific time zone. The Maritimes have their polls close about 2 hours before the eastern time zone. This way most of the votes come in at the same time. Voting Hours on Election DaySome speculate the Juan Soto will just go where he can get the most money. It will be the big story until he signs. soutxed, when none if us bowl on a certain night, all our scores are 10 percent off our average. So we can get some wins, if the other team doesn't do well, compared to our average, minus 10 percent. The other thing we can do it a pre-bowl. The is a set of games you bowl ahead of time to be used at a late date. I wish you the best of luck with your USPS situation Take care everyone.

Lorando--A college team from Dallas (SMU) defeated a team from Pittsburg (Pittsburg University) last night. Also, heard a story that Aaron Judge has been invited by NYC to drop the ball for New Years Eve. Sorry about that.
Uncle--All my packages came yesterday so Amazon and HP are caught up. There was talk of making the Presidential election polls open and close at the same time, but it would mean late hours on the east coast and early closing in Hawaii and Alaska. Speculation is it will be days before we know the results, assuming there are no court challenges.
Ed--I have had mail go that kind of route. One was a package of prescription that took two weeks and went from LA to Salt Lake City, to some place in Kansas, Dallas, San Antonio before getting here. This was because the insurance the school district had required refills to be mail order. I argued against it as that was a time when we had issues with mail theft. Lucky for me I only had one refill during that year we had that insurance. District also dropped it as few local doctors were on the list.
Sneakers--HEB Curbside does make it hard to change payment options. I have just one but once had to switch to a credit card as we were short of cash in the bank. Houston got some heavy rain yesterday as the University of Houston game was delayed by lightning.
Went to Market Days for the first time in three months. Got some fresh honey and visited with people. Then it got too hot so we came home and showered.
Went out with friend from the winehouse but only two other couples showed up. Got home late but have an extra hour to sleep.
Everyone have a good Sunday.

I have had click-o's twice where I did HEB Curbside to the wrong payment card. Going to have to call one of my pre-arranged accounts and tell them I messed up again. I was $300 short one time because of an erroneous payment to another account and I did it again. They just add the amount onto the end of the payment plan.

Good Afternoon, Ed. Your package had quite a trip. I've had USPS overshoot Pennsylvania a few times, but never bouncing around for for 7 days.
Hi, soutxed. Aaron Judge dropping the ball on New Years! Grrrrr! But I've got to admit that's funny!! I watched the installation of our bishop becoming the head of the Episcopal Church yesterday. It's usually a big deal held in the National Cathedral in Washington, but he wanted to send a message, and it was held in a 100 seat chapel in NYC, and streamed. We had a baptism today in church, which was kind of cool. I'm relaxing and watching the Buffalo-Miami game right now(10-6 Buffalo at half time) I like them both, so it's just watching for fun - no stress!. Not a good day for college football here though. Not only did the Pitt Panthers lose to SMU, but Penn State lost to Ohio State. That was a tough one. Seems like OSU always has Penn State's number! Just changed over to the Baltimore-Broncos game. It looks like a huge Fed-Ex commercial with the Baltimore's purple and black, and Denver' orange and white.
Howdy, Uncle. I really like that idea of ending voting at the same time. That's quite an accomplishment considering how huge Canada is! You're right. Juan Soto said there were no favorites, but NY knew he was a 1 year rental. Also Garrett Cole optioned out of his long term contract, which I think is a huge gift to the Yankees. They wouldn't have to pay him in his declining years (but they probably will). Second baseman Gleyber Torres is a free agent (poor defense, bad base runner, and no hustle), as is Alex Verdugo, who has played a good left field, even if his hitting was poor. Anthony Rizzo (first base) will probably retire. He's had a good career between the Cubs and Yankees. Catcher Jose Trevino is a free agent, who will probably not be resigned. So if they pass on Soto, and jettison Cole, and Torres, they could have a ton of money to invest in a younger, more balanced team for the future. But they haven't called me yet to ask my opinion.
Hello, Sneakers. It's a sunny, 60Fº day, just about perfect for early November. Sweet tea seems to be a southern thing. But it's just iced tea with sugar in it, right? Well, it's been 12 hours since I had breakfast at 2:20AM, so I think I'll go see what looks good. A tuna salad sandwich sounds like it would hit the spot, but I don't think there's any celery, and I don't have the desire to go to the store. So I guess it's pot luck! Enjoy the rest of your day, and happy listening to Sirius XM.

That's what sweet tea is: iced tea with sugar in it. I drink sugar-free tea, which is cold tea with Splenda in it. Don't need empty calories with a BMI in the low forties. Yesterday, I bought three one-gallon jugs of sugar-free tea. AJ thinks sugar-free tea is terrible so I also bought him a jug of sweet tea. Both the same price at HEB. I'm listening to "The Message" (contemporary Christian music) on SiriusXM. Usually what I do on Sunday between cousin Martha's church service and 5:00 PM if there is no football to watch. Texans played Thursday night and not interested in the Chiefs or the Packers enough to watch the game. Then, I will tell Alexa to be quiet and see if anyone has the late afternoon news on TV. Sometimes they do, sometimes this time of year everyone is showing football. When I get done with the news, I'll switch back to SiriusXM but probably not "The Message." My Amazon Alexa Echo Dot cost less than $25 on Cyber Monday 2023. Got hooked on Alexa at Houston Methodist Hospital. I think it's the greatest "bang for the buck" I have bought for home entertainment. Bought an Amazon Alexa Echo Dot for my bedroom and an Amazon Smart Plug for my bedroom nightlight. Paid list price of $50 for my bedroom Amazon Alexa Echo Dot but I bought the Amazon Smart Plug for about half-price during Amazon Prime Days this year.

Last night, I went to sleep about 11:30 PM.
Slept a long time, up about nine o'clock.
Went in the business room and turned on the ABC 13 Sunday morning news. Took my thyroid hormone.
At ten o'clock, I turned off the TV and went out to start Cousin Martha's church service streaming. I was the first person to get the stream started. No response to the altar call this morning.
Switched on "The Message" from SiriusXM. Listened to it until just before five o'clock in the afternoon.
About two o'clock in the afternoon, I started having lunch. Can of pineapple chunks in pineapple juice, followed by two pastrami and Provolone cheese sandwiches. Took my first batch of pills of the day. Had to start a new bottle of one of them.
Did stuff on the ThinkPad.
Just before five o'clock in the afternoon, I turned on the TV and checked the local stations to find out who would have late Sunday afternoon news. Had my choice of three stations, and I took ABC 13. Watched the national and local news, then turned the TV off.
Made a comfort stop, then came back in the business room and started my Amazon Alexa Echo Dot playing SiriusXM. About fifteen minutes later, we had a Wi-Fi glitch. Was able to get back on in a few minutes.
Had a Shake 'n Bake chicken leg quarter and a HEB Super Crispy ice cream bar for supper.
Any of you familiar with Quora? It's a question and answer site that I frequent. Somebody posted "Why aren't the cool kids voting for Donald Trump?" I responded to that by posting that the cool kids were voting for Kamala Harris. Weather guess has rain for Election Day. AJ will need to take me to the polls. I will need to figure out which polling place I'm closest to. The 2020 election had the Homeowner's Association clubhouse as a polling place but not in 2024. I think the nearest polling place is an elementary school that we go past frequently. IIRC, Isaiah can vote but not John or AJ. Will ask for a chair to sit down because our electronic ballot has one contest per page and in 2020 it ran to 95 pages.
While I am writing this, the nine o'clock news will start in ten minutes. Haven't looked to see who has the nine o'clock news but it is typically FOX 26 and CW 39.
After I get done watching the late local news, I'm going to eat a can of pineapple chunks because two of my pills say to take with food and the others are neutral on the subject. Then, I will take my pills and then go to bed.
AJ looked at my desk and said it needs to be cleaned up. I said that I did the first pass through the accumulated mall and what's on the desk needs to be acted on or go in the filing cabinet for future reference. AJ then said I have four places to put the mail and a total of eight file drawers.
Everyone but me is going to a funeral tomorrow. AJ is one of the pallbearers. I will stay at home because I've never met the deceased and I have a Medicare Home Health visit in the afternoon.
Watching the CW 39 weather guess. They call for thunderstorms in the morning Election Day but clearing out in the afternoon.
Took my look at Informed Delivery for Monday. Eight mailpieces. I have two pieces of junk mail and one letter from the State of Texas. I suspect that the state is reminding me that the Escape is not registered. The Escape hasn't been driven since my birthday the last week of April. Although it could be to register the Tundra. Its registration expires next month. If that's the case, I won't be able to pay the registration until the day before Thanksgiving. But AJ will need to get it inspected first and I don't think we'll have the money for that until the day before Thanksgiving.
AJ asked me if I was going to be here for Thanksgiving dinner. I said that I don't know of any reason while I won't be. I was in Ignite short-term rehab last Thanksgiving. They had a good Thanksgiving dinner although you told the staff what you wanted to eat and they'd go fetch it instead of having us go to the buffet in our wheelchairs.

Sneakers--I have heard of Quora. I got on there because there was a place for students to ask questions about their homework. But one young lady was concerned that it was her birthday, and her school had a tradition of throwing a student in the pool in their uniform. She wanted to miss that day but had a major test. Most told her to go to school and take a change of clothes. I understand trying to pay for things. You get your SS on the day before Thanksgiving.
Lorando--You get up at 2 AM? Wow. Forgot about Ohio State defeating PSU. Was an interesting day for college football. Yankees investing in younger players is a good idea. Cowboys need to do the same. Trade those high price veterans who are not as good as they use to be for draft choices, tank the rest of the season to get a high draft choice and maybe a in a few years we will have a contender. Glad you had a baptism, was it an infant?
Had issues with one of the cameras as the tripod would not latch for a while so had to stand with it to keep the camera from heading to the ceiling. By children's time it settled down. Sadly, a member who is on a walker came late and blocked the view for a couple of minutes. Had to switch to the wide-angle stationary camera. Waited for some grandparent watching from home to complain, but nothing. Been wanting a stand for the camera so we can shoot over the congregation.
Tried to get the truck started but the problem seems to more than a dead battery. It turns over but won't start. Guess I will have to call AAA and get it towed. If the repair cost is too high, may have to sell it and get something else. I was hoping to keep it until the Escape is paid off, get a used truck or small car.
Everyone have a good day, except for Uncle, go vote if you haven't already.

I got thrown in the gang shower (so it was wide enough I could go in the shower horizontally) the night before I graduated from college. All I had on was a T-shirt and a pair of shorts. At least the water temperature was neither too hot nor too cold. I got home with some wet clothing and Mom asked me if I got thrown in the shower. Guess she was used to college pranks having had two other sons who went to college.
I thought I was going to be by myself today but Michelle decided to stay with me as she didn't really know the person where AJ is going to serve as a pallbearer for his funeral. AJ said he won't be home early because after the funeral and burial they're planning a BBQ.
Going to have to call one of my creditors. I messed up and only have slightly more than $1000 in my main checking account when they want to debit $1133.23 Wednesday. HEB Curbside typo pulled money from my debit card when I wanted to use a different credit card.
My taxable brokerage account is up 0.38% on a day where the market is down.
Yes, I get my SS on the fourth Wednesday of the month. Although the fourth Wednesday of December 2024 is Christmas Day and I will get my SS for that month on Christmas Eve.

Good Afternoon, Sneakers. Glad Michelle stayed behind. Or maybe you were looking forward to having the house to yourself for the day. I like the idea of a barbecue after a funeral. Sounds like a very Texas thing to do. My drivers license arrived in the mail today. So what you can accomplish in a couple hours in Texas, takes 36 days in Pennsylvania -- and that's with no snags or delays! That explains why they send out the renewal notices 2 months in advance. You do like pineapple a lot. I do too, but I can't eat it very often because it has a natural enzyme that breaks down protein, even protein in the lips, tongue and mouth. But it's worth the burn every now and then.
Hello, soutxed. I put in a few miles on the trail this morning. It was nice to turn off the brain and let the feet just take me along for the ride. The trail volunteers must have blown the leaves recently, so not much crunching. But it's good they do because wet leaves can be a hazard for bicyclists, and when they freeze, even walking can be an adventure. Steelers had a bye week, but face Washington next Sunday. They've had a fairly easy schedule so far, so it will be a good test. The baptism was a young lady, I think 24. She's actually another distant relatives I never knew I had. My grandfather was born here in 1880, but moved away from the farm and county in 1899. My ballot was hand delivered on the day after receiving it, so it should be at the bottom of the pile, waiting to be counted. I guess that's one good thing about living in a country divided. It makes people appreciate their right to vote.
