lorando: The pot bum is worse than childish. I literally could not breath this morning. The smoke came right into the 2nd floor rear windows into my CPAP mask. I am putting the shower on cold when I go to bed. It is staying on all night. Hopefully any smoke that comes into the 2nd floor windows will be absorbed by the water. I dont pay for water and sewage so I will do what it takes to help my situation until I get the hell out of here. I think a ladder was used to get to the 2nd floor windows. They are in the cellar of this building and can be taken out by anyone here. This bum is a criminal plus a drunk and weed bum. I found the criminal part when I was driving out of the lot here to go to a laundromat to do my laundry. Someone here in the lot told me about his background. I very well could be killed here.

Patty--The fire was from your apartment and not a nearby brush fire. Normally this time of year the farmers are burning Sugar cane. A little bothersome for my wife but one of her sisters would usually move to Austin to be with a daughter there. However, the Sugar Mill closed this past year costing hundreds of jobs due to the lack of water because of the drought. Hopefully you can get rid of the weed smoker. Do any other tenants complain about him to the landlord? Hopefully life will get better for you.
Sneakers--Switched on the 10 PM news last night and the whole 30 minutes was a salute to Veterans. Saw several homes with Christmas decorations last night. Noticed Valero lowered the gas prices after the election, so the others did also. Sounds pretty fishy to me. I agree Isaiah is carrying his weight along with AJ.
Ed--My doctor has scheduled me with a cardiologist to get a stress test but cannot get in until the day before Thanksgiving. Asked the doctor's office if I could be put on list to get it sooner if there was a cancelation but the person on the phone says they don't do that. Will call every few days and see if I get Luckly.
Went to the funeral and it was so sad only ten people showed up. The deceased was very active in Raymondville business and the church. Also, it was at a church where the acoustics are so bad it was hard to understand the priest. However, other than the scripture and the homily, the ritual of the Catholic church is the same so one doesn't have to understand what is said.
On the way home got a call from Ting, which is a company the insurance company pays to monitor our electrical system there was a problem. Got home and was on the phone for over an hour and they couldn't pin down the problem. We know what it isn't. They will monitor over the weekend and if by Monday they can't find the problem will pay for an electrician to come out and also up to $1000 for any repairs he/she does.
Have a good week.

Gas prices usually go down in November, election or not. Refiners are allowed to switch to a blend of gasoline that is cheaper to make. GasBuddy had a historical price chart that shows this (they may still have it but I don't look much at the current site).

Souxted: No brush fires here. This was cigar smelling weed. It was more than I could bare. Using my CPAP machine, I woke up choking. Then when I called the fire dept. it only got worse as the fire man came to my apt and I told him the next door down. I stated if it was a fire in that unit, the bum would have it out by now plus sprayed fabreze to get rid of the odor. Thanks bozo. What an ass. I am packing and getting out. Homeless I go. I have a storage space but I went to a smaller unit a few months ago I will never do that again. I never unpacked here. I never liked it here. No space and I mean no space. However, the weed odor has gotten so bad that I am asthmatic all day. I overdosed on asthma meds yesterday (Saturday) as I could have died here on the floor. I was not paying for any ambulance to go 7 towns over due to the frigin bum. My mother was at work. about 20 years ago. when she passed out. She could have shook a patient's hand if they had his/her arm out the window. That is how close the hospital was in proximity to her work. Her boss called 911. She was taken by ambulance to the ER. The ambulance ride was approx. $6500.00. Now that was approximately 20 years ago. What is it 30K now? It depends on the distance. She was at the ER in maybe 3 or 4 minutes after the gurney came up and then the ride down to the vehicle. Then the little bit of ride. Then the ride into the bldg on the gurney. What a damn shame. The only person who stated anything about the weed odor was the woman on the other side of the bum's apt. She had pneumonia about 2-3 months ago. She told me that she told the bum that she could not stand the weed as she could not breath with her pneumonia. Now he is on my side of the fence and she is as happy as can be. Now she told me I am stuck. Will she say anything to a state worker here? Absolutely not she stated.
As far as your cardiology appointment, I have been given the exact song and dance at any medical place around here. It is all for profit and it is a nightmare. It was never like this with attitudes to match.
Have a good start to the week.

You're definitely overcharged for medical services in Taxachusetts.
The last ambulance ride that I have seen the bill for was $2941.60 and that was in September 2024 from the rehab facility to Houston Methodist. Five miles.
Medicare allowed the ambulance company to have $573.80 which they accepted as payment in full.
Medicare paid 80% of it and my Medicare Supplement picked up the rest.

That gasbuddy site is awful. I wish they would bring the old one back. I looked, the new GasBuddy site has the gas price charts. And one can look at them and see the price of gas going down every November. Even if it's not an election year.

Got up a few minutes after five o'clock ready to do a load of laundry. Discovered I couldn't do laundry at five in the morning because one of my housemates was up earlier than me doing his laundry.
We're beginning to show a bit of light in the East but not enough yet to make the streetlights go out.
Just swallowed my daily dose of thyroid hormone. Will probably not eat until after my 11:00 AM podiatrist appointment.

Sneakers--Prices in the RGV haven't fallen to pre-election numbers. However, Love's truck stop here never raised their prices last week. Filled up there Saturday as we returned from Raymondville. A former student and co-worker at HEB with wife pulled up at pump next to us. Told us with Love's app, they get 10 cents a gallon off. Loaded app and noticed it is true. How did Martha's church service go?
Patty--When I called EMS during a breathing episode the bill was $110, but they did not take me to the hospital. Medicare Advantage pays the full amount when SIL took EMS from San Perlita to Harlingen. You need to move. Are there homeless shelters where you can stay until you find a home? I know the one here will allow pets (at least dogs and cats).
I agree the Gas Buddy site is a mess and wish they would return to the old site. But the one on my phone is still the same. I use it sometimes to find lower prices, especially when out of town. One problem in Harlingen there are two posters who keep posting old prices or at least wrong prices. I have reported them more than once. I think we all do it every now and then.
Church went well, no glitches. We have a garage sale, car show, this Saturday. They want workers to show up at 7 AM but I have a game the night before so may be late. Also let them know I cannot do heavy lifting.
After church we went to a friend's home for a Friendsgiving meal along with 6 other couples. Watched the disappointing Cowboys game but other than that, it was a great time and the relaxation I needed.
Once again, the hose on the C-Pac machine filled with water again and was so noisy I had to turn it off before the 4 hours minimum. I'm worried that insurance may not pay this month's bill.
Wife has eye surgery today. Praying for good results.

Good Monday Morning, Patty. It looks like NW PA will have its first hard freeze of the year tomorrow night (<28°F for 4 consecutive hours), which is about a month behind schedule, not that I'm complaining! Had some much needed rain yesterday to boot! For-Profit Ambulance services in the area are crying that they can't make ends meet, and it's probably the same story all over. The one that serves my area even gave away a new ambulance to the city of Meadville Fire Dept, to help them set up their own service. It seems to be working. Sorry your living conditions are causing you such stress. No one should have to live in fear in their own space. We support a Women's Services organization that shelters women in abusive or dangerous relationships. Maybe a nearby church knows of an option for you. Couldn't hurt to drop in for a chat. Hello, Uncle. Enjoying your time off? Since you used up your once a year Thanksgiving quota, your next break is probably the big one at Christmas time. It will be interesting to see what you do at bowling tonight. Hopefully you won't be an orphan-bowler much longer (unless you like your status as a one man team). Russell Wilson is enjoying his comeback with the Steelers -- hope it continues! Keeping him out until completely recovered seems to be paying off.
Hi, soutxed. I open up early on Sundays and another guy cleans and locks up afterword, but he's been missing for 3 of the last 4 weeks. I'll go in this morning to wash dishes and get things back to normal. I don't mind, since it keeps me out of trouble. A salute to all the Veterans today. More and more organizations are helping to put wreaths on veterans' gravesites at Christmas time. What a great idea! I watched the Cowboys-Eagles game yesterday. Dallas is not a happy team right now. I'm sure their fans aren't too pleased either. Hope your wife's eye surgery goes well today.
Morning, Sneakers. Regular gas is $3.549 today. You were up at 5AM to do laundry! Your intentions were good, but someone beat you to it this time. I hope Dr. Clause is pleased with the foot's progress. That was a lot of rain in Cousin Martha's area. Our rain here yesterday must have been the leftovers. It was steady for several hours, but just a fraction of what we need.

I kind of went to sleep during the sermon. Couldn't tell you for the life of me what it was about. There was no response to the altar call, I don't think there's been any since their senior pastor moved away in September.

Isaiah was up doing laundry even earlier than I was. AJ just took him to work. My load went in the dryer about 45 minutes ago. Just told AJ about the 11:00 AM appointment with Dr. Clause. Fortunately, he didn't have anything else on his plate. If push came to shove, I could take an UBER.
Regular unleaded gasoline at HEB in Webster is $2.399/gallon today.

Soutxed: I hope your wife is doing well after her eye surgery. It must have been for a cataract. The town where I grew up, had there own town ambulances. No hospital owned ones. Unless there were 5 accidents on or about the same time, all the town ambulances were used. It helped pay for the high cost of living in that town. I have move 4 times. I really cannot keep moving. But I will move this last time and will heavily screen before I decide to move in.
lorando: I called one church and there are no regular priests on duty. There are visiting priests for weekends but no one around during the week. There is a priest shortage in this area and has been for several years. When my mother was around, she was a regular church goer every Saturday. She always stated that she never knew who was going to say the mass. Always a visiting priest. The shelters here are in the big city. I went one time as I needed a break from home life. I went right back home. There are drug dealers, drunks, people with lice, etc. Then I was the only one with a car (13 years). Had to be in line by 6:30 pm and out by 6 am. I could not be there at 6:30 pm as I worked. Oh well. No cold weather here (like deep freezes). I am hoping for the warmest winter yet. Hardly any snow last year. May it be the same this year.
Sneakers: I give 5 Stars to Isaiah. He was up before you to do his laundry. (you were up at 5am) Then he has a job. that he went to today. How was the chicken and rice with Italian dressing he cooked the other night? He sounds like a wonderful young man. I told you this before. But from what you say, he is awesome. I really think he wants to make a life for himself. I hope no one gets in the way. From what you stated, it made my day. At least there is one young man who is decent. May he continue onto the path of success.

May he continue onto the path of success. I am going to have to ask Isaiah what Italian dressing did he use for the marinade. It tasted better than the HEB Italian Dressing that I usually buy, and the chicken was also more moist than when it's cooked in HEB Italian Dressing. Given the comments that I heard on here from another thread, being cooked in a solution with a lot of vinegar dries out the chicken.
Had lunch. While I was putting away the cold items in the refrigerator, the Medicare Home Health nurse came to the front door. I got rebandaged somewhat differently than Dr. Clause did it. He didn't put on any silver alginate dressing but the nurse did.
Went to see Dr. Clause this morning. I was about ten minutes late, but when I got there the front desk was unstaffed. So, I signed in. Discovered from the sounds wafting from the back room one of the staff had a birthday and they were eating birthday cake. They wrapped up the birthday party and returned to work. AJ was not happy with me being slow to get ready. Told Dr. Clause I was doing better than I was Friday night and told him about my trip to the Houston Methodist ER. He wants me to have Medicare Home Health and come back for a progress check Monday the 25th.
